We went for dinner on our way back from Windsor. I saw the reviews and we thought this would be a good place to grab a bite. We were wrong.
I ordered the combo Pad Thai with beef, chicken shrimp and vegetables. There were no vegetables, two small shrimp, two small thin pieces of chicken and beef. The rest was noodles in a thick brown sauce that tasted like beef gravy. There was no tamarin flavor whatsoever. The noodles had the texture and taste of the packets of noodles you buy in the discount soup section of the store. I ordered it medium hot and there was no spice or thai chiles in the meal. It was a bland, soggy mess of noodles.
My friend ordered the Seafood Delight for $18. It said it was Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster meat and Krab meat with vegetables in a white garlic sauce. The miso soup was; well strange. Nothing like the miso soup I had in a Japanese steak house. It was cloudy broth with a weird after taste. She took a tast and gave it to me. I could not eat it.
The Seafood Delight was mostly big chunks of vegetables with two small shrimp, NO scallops, and small piece of lobster meat that was so tough I had to break it apart with two forks so she could chew it. The small piece of Krab meat was that imitation crab made out of egg whites. The sauce tasted like water and corn starch. My friend who usually does not complain about any food said she would rate it a zilch.
Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and they have some good food. Their menu is obviously too complex for the cook. If so, the waiter should have recommended a dish they are good at. He did ask us if we wanted a takeout box since over half the meal was still on the plate. I laughed and said no thanks.
When I was asked about my half eaten dish of Pad Thai, I told him it tasted like Oodles of Noodles with beef gravy. I told him there was no spice and no tamarin he indicated he knew it did not have Thai spices. He said the only hot spice they have is hot pepper oil--not even close to Thai chiles. If they have dishes on the menu that the cook does not know how to make, they should remove those from the menu. Someone like me who goes to try a new place would never go back to a place that served a meal that tasted like it was prepared from a pre-packaged soup,
My recommendation: Skip this place and go to any fast food chinese restaurants. You will save money and more than likely get a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAll (and I truly mean all) of the appetizers and desserts are prepackaged and frozen, the chicken is frozen and preserved in the most disgusting way, the rice sits in a cooker all day, you don't want to know how old the ingredients for the salads and soups are....the only thing truly fresh here is the sushi, but they are usually rotating between sushi chefs who do it different so it's never consistent, I once got a roll with crab tempura that was served with just an entire fried claw. The food is really just not that good. The hibachi is especially disappointingā go to a place that specializes in hibachi instead of here. Everything else just tastes kind of weird or has an odd texture. Service is always good, but the manager is very rude. Don't even go on your birthday.... you'll have to pay for the cake that they give you that you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDELICIOUS!!!!! Our waitress was a first class saleswoman. Tired, hungry, just wanted a little dinner after driving up from Charlotte, NC and Roanaoke, VA respectively,we were not looking for anything more than just food. But, our server sold us on her winning smile, personality and product knowledge. We had Sake, Thai Summer Rolls, Sweet Pea Sushi Roll (Vegaterian), Thai Iced Tea, our Entrees: Shrimp Pad Thai - melted in my mouth - best I've had in 4 states, and Shrimp Chow Mein, if we had had room for dessert, we would have had that too. She sure tried to sell it to us. Quiet atmosphere, soft, dim, great for a much needed date night for a hard working couple before returning to work tomorrow. Full bellies will help us sleep well. We will definitely visit here again when in the area....
