Had it not been for the EXTREMELY RUDE bartender lady, I would have given this restaurant 4 stars. The food was the best Mexican food I have had since moving to Washington (from Houston, so the bar is high). The tortilla chips are thick and flakey… not oily… very nice. The salsa is decent (not great.. Aka the 4 star rating). The decor is cute. The waitress and other staff were busy, but friendly.
We walked in to most people sitting on the patio, and the inside had only a few patrons. We waited to be seated for just a second when an employee invited us to sit where we pleased. We were a group of 3, and sat at a table that could hold 4. After a few minutes of bumping elbows (and none of us are large people), we decided we preferred a bit more room. The waitress was busy so we didn't wait to ask, and we moved back one table and scooted a 2 top table that was about 2 feet away over to join the same size as before, 4 top we were now seated at. We had not received water yet, so no big deal from our perspective. The waitress noticed our move, asked if we had more people joining, we said no we felt crammed, and she politely removed the extra place settings and took our order. We ate the chips, received the rest of our food, and were eating (so sat a bit now with no complaints or scoldings so far), when the bartender appears and VERY RUDELY starts moving our food from the smaller 2 top table to the 4 top whilst very aggressively saying we were only 3 people and could NOT sit at a table for 6. She was literally slamming the stuff in front of us moving it. We all started explaining/apologizing saying we didn't have enough room and she continued to scold us and be completely rude. My friend was still seated, as it happened so quickly, whilst she pulled the table back the 2 feet we had moved it, running the table into him in the meantime. He was clearly fine, but I mention this to explain the level of abrupt rudeness. Long story short, they had a large party incoming that they wanted the table moved the other direction for (which btw it wasn't part of that section to begin with either). If she simply would have stated that they needed the table back for an incoming group, we clearly would have moved without issue. We enjoyed the elbow space but are normal understanding people that were not trying to cause any issue, and would be compliant and help move everything to fix the issue. Also, there was another 2 person table about 2 more feet away that could have been used if she had desired (most of the seats inside were still empty).
I understand people are stressed at work, especially in the service industry these days. Even if she weren’t exactly polite, I still wouldn't have been upset, but this was the rudest I have EVER been treated in a restaurant. The day before a bartender elsewhere (when asked for a lemon drop) said she could make it but didn’t want to… and I had no incentive to complain about her. She was super busy and was basically being super blunt.. Ok cool, I asked her to make whatever she could do easily enough with vodka.. Done deal, all happy. Oh, to also mention, the bartender at today’s restaurant was doing very little/ nothing every time I looked over. The bar wasn't really set up for people to sit at, or they happen not to be sitting around it, so again zero insight into her rude behavior. I wish she had a name tag on as then I would recommend avoiding dining here with this lady present. I very much do NOT recommend eating here at this point. Maybe takeout.? I also recommend the restaurant give her a vacation, job where she stays behind the bar and doesn't talk to customers, or maybe in the back where she wouldn’t have any need to interact with other people,...
Read moreI’ve been living in Seattle for three years, and with all due respect to the many Mexican food spots around, I had never tasted anything as authentic and true to the flavors of Mexico as this small, cozy place I found in Snoqualmie, Washington.
I had the pleasure of trying enfrijoladas with a fried egg, tamales wrapped in banana leaves, red mole, black mole, plantain sopes with homemade red mole, pozole, café de olla, and a tres leches cake that perfectly rounded out an unforgettable culinary experience.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this place is a little piece of Mexico brought all the way up here. From the very first bite, the flavors transport you to a roadside eatery in southern Mexico—the kind where truck drivers stop for a comforting home-style meal. SOUTHERN MEXICANS WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN.
The atmosphere is warm and familiar, and the service makes you feel right at home. The owners are proudly Oaxacan, and you can taste it in every detail: the seasoning, the ingredients, and the unwavering respect for their culinary heritage.
I’ll never forget what the kind waitress told me when I asked her what the secret was behind such authentic flavor: “We’ve been doing this for 20 years, and I think the secret is that we don’t change our sauces to please tastes. The idea is for people to get to know the true flavors of Oaxaca.”
And that’s exactly how it should be. Mexicans preserving their culture, even far from home. That, without a doubt, is the key to success.
I wholeheartedly recommend this place. If you want to experience the true taste of Oaxaca without leaving Washington, this is where...
Read moreCaadxi Oaxaca.... I can't pronounce it... And I've walked past it dozens of times and never even realized it was there. This gem of a restaurant is one of Snoqualmie's best kept secrets, tucked away unassumingly in a mini complex off Railroad. We went in on a Sunday night. People were standing inside the doorway waiting for a table. No one seemed willing to turn around and head anywhere else. Figured there had to be a reason for this, so we stuck it out the extra five minutes. I wasn't even hungry when I went to Caadxi. I thought I'd just have one soft taco and a glass of water. My plate came, with three soft tacos simply but beautifully arranged in a circle, I was one bite in and realized there was no hope of leftovers. The foods is THAT GOOD! The staff are friendly and efficient. They were perfectly attentive, without hovering like annoying gnats at a cookout. I have an emotional support dog, and the staff were extremely understanding and kind regarding my need for his presence in the establishment. The atmosphere at Caadxi Oaxaca is family-friendly/casual/fun. A laid back Mexican restaurant that does not disappoint! I wish I could show you a pic of my plate of food. Unfortunately, I devoured it before I thought to snap one. One word off caution: if your are sensitive to spicy foods, you definitely want to let the servers know that your meal should be prepared as mild as possible. I am sensitive to spicy/hot foods, and my tacos were a bit more spicy than I'm used to. The taste of them was so good, though, with the extra cilantro that I requested... I had no problem cleaning my plate. I can't...
