We had a fantastic first visit to Murphys while traveling from Novato to Sonoma. It was a beautiful day, and we stopped in for a bite around 5 PM. The atmosphere was lively, with plenty of TVs showing sports, which added to the fun vibe. I ordered the Big Chicken Beer, while my wife enjoyed a spicy margarita—both were excellent. She especially loved all the different cocktail options on the menu.
For food, I had the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy and flavorful, and my husband had a burger with the best fries we’ve had in a long time. The service was great, even with the staff being incredibly busy setting up for a big concert later in the evening.
One thing that stood out was how hard the staff was working, especially the poor host dealing with a group of angry older women who had taken four tables for just six people. He was trying his best to explain why that was unfair to others waiting, but they weren’t having it and were downright rude to him. Despite this, the team handled the situation professionally and kept things moving smoothly.
Overall, we had a great experience—good food, drinks, and a fun atmosphere. We’d definitely come back....
Read moreWe went in around 8:30 on a weekday to grab a drink and some food. We were told this place doesn’t have a kitchen. We grabbed a drink. There were some clear regulars being ridiculously loud and obnoxious. Slamming things around and even dropping a glass on the ground. The bartender saw it and said something like “that’s no fun” and went back to what he was doing. We finished our drinks and left and the glass was still on the floor. We went down the street to another bar and the bartender here informed us this place does indeed have a kitchen. Guess you don’t have to worry about return customers when you know they’re not residents. Edit because I can’t reply to the owner: Thanks for your reply, really appreciate the professionalism, it seems more and more rare these days! This was 10/30. If we had been told the kitchen is closed, no problem we fully understand, but we were told “we don’t have a kitchen”. The bigger problem was the slamming around of glasses and cellphones (I don’t get it either, seemed to be some sort of game or bet between regulars) and the lack of concern about broken glass...
Read moreWe happened upon this bar trying to enjoy a bachelorette party, but unbeknownst to us there were two private parties booked for the evening,. This bar came highly recommended from our Uber driver. We were allowed to enter the bar, but when part of our party tried to go dance they were aggressively removed from the dance floor. I have no qualms with private parties being private but I find it not only rude but also unprofessional to neglect to notify the public of said private parties. Something as simple as a ‘private party only’ sign, at the entrance to the private areas, would’ve negated any confusion for those not in the parties. I am very disappointed with my experience at this establishment. I do not put any blame on the bouncer who was clearly doing his job but his leadership has clearly failed to fully perform their...
