⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in Sonoma Downtown – Worth Discovering!

Absolutely five-star food! Taste of the Himalayas delivers an authentic, home-style Himalayan feast with every dish bursting with flavor. Each bite feels like it was cooked with care in someone’s kitchen—not a commercial kitchen—and the warmth of the hospitality matches the food.

A clever insider’s tip: the restaurant is tucked right next to the Irish pub on the plaza, and could really use a sign to help newcomers find it easily. Once you know it’s there though, it becomes your go-to.

The best part? You get the best of both worlds—sip on exceptional cocktails, whiskey, wine, or beer at the pub, then walk right over for an affordable, soul-satisfying dinner. It’s a rare combo that’s perfect for locals and visitors alike.

Highly recommend if you want a flavorful escape from the usual wine country fare....

While traveling through the area we ate at most of the the restaurants on the square, many charging 3-4x the price of Taste of the Himalayas. Many did not offer the level of service or flavors and were overhyped. This is the best Himalayan food we have ever had and we came from an area with several. I have never had tandori that wasn't a flaming red colored or anything other than chicken. Here we had lamb tandori that came out sizzling on a platter, tender, fresh vegetables and well seasoned. The flecks of fresh mint all coming through. We also had Saag paneer and we could not decide between mild or hot and were offered to have the dish "medium hot". Another first. The spice heat was perfect and did not burn your mouth but left a nice warmth. This will definitely be a stop when we are back...

We went with family on Sunday evening after visiting Sonoma train town ...we were quite hungry and started with veg Momo's and tea ..tea was not great but Momo's were quite good ! For dinner we ordered baingan curry and paneer Tikka masala...with some garlic cilantro naan ...the food took a bit of time to come but was really good ...we devoured the food ..and our four year son who is quite picky also loved the garlic naan with paneer Tikka masala .. we sat outside overlooking the alley ..and really liked the simple family restaurant like ambience...loved the Sonoma downtown and this restaurant ...will come again when we are in...

Loved everything about this meal from the chutney all the way to my mango lassi. With outdoor dining only allowed, I enjoyed how this place is tucked away in an alley under a shady awning. No foot traffic to bother you or the sun to burn the back of your neck. Like spicy food but always left wanting more heat at most restaurants? Hot spice level here is delightfully spicy which made me glad I ordered a lassi. This was also my first time having non-store bought naan. I didn't know how freaking delicious it was! Next time I'm going to try their garlic flavored naan.

Delicious food and a wonderfully helpful waiter, the spot is tucked in with the Murphy’s Irish pub and the ours seating is such a fun atmosphere with the people from the pub and the live music all coming together, you feel like you are on a little European street, definitely recommend. I will say if you usually order medium at an Indian restaurant I’d get spicy here as it leans more mild but the flavors were absolutely delightful.

I’ve only been to Sonoma twice and have visited here both times. Totally worth the trip every time! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a fast, quiet sit down with some comfort food. Friendly staff and warm, flavorful dishes. Perfect for a rainy day! I highly recommend the garlic naan, chicken chana masala and the Mismas chicken.
