Well let me first start by stating.... We had reservations made for this evening which is New Years Eve. We arrived and were treated pretty poorly. It was so bad we talked about leaving and going else where. The Hostess took us upstairs for our New Years Buffet which was being served downstairs and just thought we were going to walk up and down 2 different flights of stairs to go get our food as she was going to sit us in the bar. My husband said "Could you please get us a table, we did reserve a table in advance, and I can't imagine you really expect people to walk up and down flights of stairs." She said she would check and left us sitting in the hallway by the stairs never came back for approximately 15 min or so, at this point my husband had it with the way we were being treated and was ready to walk out. Finally after another woman asked us if we were being helped and she went to check on things for us, the hostess finally came back said we could sit downstairs in the dining room called the drawing room but informed us we only had 1 hour to eat and leave. This is how rude, classless, and uncouth the staff is at Tippecanoe Place. We were finally seated in the drawing room and there were plenty of open tables. The Hostess on the way to the drawing room said if you would have stayed upstairs you could have just ordered off the menu and it would be cheaper, we had to inform her that we aren't concerned about price or money. My husband was wearing Armani, I wore a very high end dress, I don't know what gave her the impression we were too poor to eat there. We dont mind paying good money for a good food, service and experience. I think anyone is that way. After we were seated we waited and waited and waited a little longer to finally be greeted by our server. I don't know if the man is unfortunately hard of hearing or just likes the sound of his own voice, he is so loud! We told him we were there for the buffet and we ordered drinks. We went helped ourselves and got our salads came back and were almost finished with them before we ever recieved our drinks. This man never removed our dirty plates ect. My husband had ordered another drink in the middle of our entree but it was not recieved. He acknowledged he forgot it and would get it, but instead of getting it he took an order for a table of 6 and we were completely finished eating and wanting our check before he stopped back by and said he was going to go get it, my husband told him to just forget it we wanted our check so we could leave. The food was mediocre. What was announced on the website and what was served was different. On the website they stated they were serving Salmon, instead it was Cod, and the prime rib was okay, nothing spectacular, we have ate better at Heston's Supper Club. It stated they were serving asparagus, but it was snap peas instead that were cold and under cooked. The desserts were something you would by in sheets at Gordon's and we were under the impression they were suppose to have a pastry Chef. The dessert served was 4 different kinds of brownies and plain cheese cake bites and raspberry cheese cake bites and red velvet roll, by no means anything good or to brag about. So the food was edible but not real good. On the positive side, the guy serving the prime rib and pork belly, my husband and I both agreed he was the classiest, yet kindest employee they had. My mother in law stated her and my father in law use to go there often, as business owners they would take clients ect there for dinner, but the last couple of times they went the food and service was so bad they decided to take their business elsewhere. Our recommendation is DO NOT GO TO THE TIPPECANOE PLACE!!! Save your time and money!!! There are far too many other places to eat like LaSalle Grill, or the Cordiance, or Heston's Supper Club, Bone Fish. These other places serve amazing food, you get the amazing service you want and should expect and the ambiance that you are paying for. We won't go back to...

There was a birthday party on the 3rd floor, a wedding on the first floor which we had to walk through to get to the 2nd floor where we ate. The 2nd floor also has a bar area. The grand staircase is beautiful, and they also have an old elevator, which is operational. The food ranged from really good to terrible. We had the puff pastry wrapped baked bri appetizer, which came with an assortment of fresh fruit and little pita like triangles. Honestly, it tasted like a bri toaster studle. I would have preferred it as a dessert. My salmon was the best entre of the 3, very moist, and the portion sizes are generous. The chicken Oscar was tasty but dry. My boyfriend liked it. The Piccata with shrimp was terribly bland. Absolutely no flavor to it. Definitely would not recommend. There was a nice crust on the creme Brule, but the creme part of it wasn't the smooth custard I expected. It still tasted good, but it wasn't amazing. 3 people: 1 bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 3 entres, and 1 dessert came to $156 without tip. The staff is friendly, if a little disorganized perhaps. I was surprised at the incredibly relaxed attire of the wait staff. The grandeur of the studebaker mansion sets a vibe, and the bright array of sports jerseys, t shirts and blue jeans kind of detracted from that. It makes it hard to identify who works there. A little cordination in this department would boost the ambiance big time. Upon entry, there's not really signage or people to direct you where to go. We walked in in the middle of a wedding reception, and we're so confused. There is a counter to the left of the main entrance, but it wasn't manned and the slew of people made it hard to see where to go. Someone did show up pretty quick though, looked like he just came out of the kitchen wearing a white apron, and he seemed a little confused but got us to our table. After our meal they told us we could look around the mansion on our own, we didn't really get a look at the 3rd floor other than the bathrooms because there was a birthday party going on and that felt awkward. There was a room up there with the door open with what looked like hundreds of chairs in a pile, not stacked, piled. It was so weird. The wedding party was using some of the rooms on the second floor that I accidentally walked in on, also awkward, and it looked like we just missed a memorial service in the basement! I think they rent out rooms or floors for events, so be aware that random people will be wandering though at random times, and some random things are kept in random places. Still it's a beautiful house on beautiful grounds and a great place...

Roasted Duck
The star of the show at Tippecanoe Place is undoubtedly the Roasted Duck. This dish is a masterpiece, with perfectly crispy skin giving way to tender, juicy meat. The duck is seasoned to perfection, with a symphony of flavors that will dance on your taste buds. The accompanying sides, including roasted root vegetables and a rich duck demi-glace, are equally impressive, adding depth and complexity to the dish.
Shrimp Dijon
Another must-try at Tippecanoe Place is the Shrimp Dijon. These plump, succulent shrimp are pan-seared to perfection and then bathed in a creamy Dijon mustard sauce. The sauce is the perfect balance of tangy and savory, complementing the sweetness of the shrimp without overpowering it. The dish is finished with a sprinkle of fresh herbs, adding a touch of brightness and freshness.
In addition to its outstanding food and service, Tippecanoe Place also boasts an impressive wine list. The selection is well-curated, with a variety of wines from around the world to complement any dish. Our server expertly paired our meal with a Pinot Noir that perfectly enhanced the flavors of the Roasted Duck.
