I went in for an early dinner around 5PM on a Sunday. There were three hosts at the host stand and were sitting people diligently. I was greeted right away and informed them when asked it would just be me and I read the reviews that they have bands upstairs sometimes. They didn’t that day but I still chose to sit upstairs thinking I could sit at the bar. There were no bar options but I got a table by the bar. I was immediately greeted by Juan and asked for a margarita, Juan mentioned it was only two dollars extra for top shelf which included better tequila and a Gran Marnier shooter so I opted for that option. It was the right choice! Next I ordered a half a dozen oysters and asked if they shuck them there, which they do. They were delicious! I could tell they were fresh and they came with raw horseradish, cocktail sauce, limes and a vinegar which tasted sweet but with the rest of the options paired really well with the horde and lime juice. I could not decide if I wanted shrimp boil or shrimp Alfredo and Juan was very patient with me while I asked him questions and hesitated a little on my choice but I finally went with the Alfredo again based on the reviews that I read. Once the Alfredo arrived it looked delicious and came with two beautiful pieces of garlic toast everything looked well seasoned. I first took a bite of the Alfredo and was turned off by the taste of parmesan that I got that tasted like stale Kraft parmesan. I moved to the shrimp and the first bite tasted like freezer burn with seasoning. I thought maybe it was just tat piece so I tried a bite of another and same thing. Juan came to check on me and noticed I wasn’t eating the Alfredo. I asked him if they use the same shrimp from the Alfredo and the boil. He stated it is different. I told him I was not happy with the plate and he said he would let his manager know. The manager then came with the plate and I explained why I didn’t like the shrimp and he asked if I would like something else so I just opted for more oysters since they were so delicious. I was not going to request another dish but because they were so hospitable I felt comfortable enough too and they also graciously comped the Alfredo plate. All in all I had a great experience and would return again. Also I forgot to ask but in the search an Als or A1 Cajun place came up and some of the servers had those shirts on too so they could be the same place. Thank you for...
Read moreWhile this came highly recommended, I can say I will never return nor recommend this restaurant. This restaurant is run by 16 and 17 year olds who were more concerned with their cell phones and laughing in their huddle then they were concerned with the packed waiting area and bar which were all families waiting to eat. The hostess told us the wait was an hour at 8:45pm, then at 9:45pm we were told another half hour, at 10:15pm the hostess said they were clearing off tables, then by 10:30pm they had no idea when we would be seated. Mind you the restaurant closes at 10pm and it wasn't until 10:30pm that the hostess said that they had an issue in the kitchen after no one had been seated for the past hour and we watched more than 10 families leave the restaurant. We would have left as well but there were no other restaurants open at that time. There were many families with small children that had all been waiting for 2.5+ hours and the staff showed no concern and even laughed as people complained and requested an update. We were finally sat at 11:30pm. The appetizers (calamari and fried clams) were literally brought out 3 minutes after we ordered and came cold and chewy and was the worst appetizers I've ever had a seafood restaurant, they definitely were not fresh as you'd expect from a restaurant that claims to have fresh seafood. The entrees were okay, not what was expected at all but after all we were receiving our dishes at midnight. We stayed at South Padre Island for 4 nights and every restaurant with the exception of Daddy's had exceptional service and great food! This was not an experience I would ever recommend to someone who is spending $40+ per person for dinner. I hope the owner takes a note from his staff's behavior and turns this...
Read moreDuring our trip to South Padre We visited the "Daddy's Cajun" location this evening. It honestly was the worst visit and dining experience We have had in years, at any restaurant.
Hate starting off an review with bad news/reviews for anyone but it was absolutely horrible. The waitress ( no name tag and wouldn't say her name ) took forever to do absolutely anything. Food was not anything special ( referring to seafood boil), over priced for frozen seafood, and that is what wasn't sent back.
Ordered the "cajun chicken alfredo" and sent it back. It was over cooked to the point the noodles were literal mush, once it actually came out. The seafood boil had no spice at all ( except tons and tons of pepper ), no cajun spices at all.
When We left there was approx 20'ish people waiting for tables, when there was atleast 6 clean tables. The people waiting were not all together.
8:16 arrived 8:38 waitress came by and asked about drinks 8:52 brought waters 9:03 waitress came by and ordered 9:17 food arrived minus kids meal 9:23 kids meal showed up 9:39 found manager and sent back chicken alfredo 9:42 waitress came by to see how everything was ( told her sent back alfredo, and was told "ohh ok " 9:57 waitress came by and asked if anything else ( asked for box for boil) 10:01 box arrived 10:04 check ( waitress left ) 10:06 paid finally ( split check )
Wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone at all. Have heard its about the same at many of the restaurants that the same company owns. Be warned if you do visit here.
Tried to email the company regarding this visit and their email " Doesnt exist", it bounces - thats the email they have listed on their website. So tried to email other locations owned by the same company and 4 out...
