The facility overall looks to be in disrepair and run down. The front of the hotel has windows broken out. The front door (street side) had sand bags stacked up around the door; not sure what purpose they served. Flyers were posted everywhere, telling guests not to park on the second-floor parking area, due to construction. We asked about it when checking in and the clerk had no idea what we were talking about. There are two elevators in the building; both are extremely slow. The elevators took forever to move between floors. Even the doors closed slowly. In the hall way on the 4th floor there is a sign designating where a fire extinguisher, should be, but there was none. Be prepared to feel like you’re suffocating as you navigate the winding corridors; the temp was always above 80 degrees. The room AC worked quite well, keeping us cool and comfortable. We stayed in a king size room with a kitchenette. The room had a mini fridge, microwave, small coffee pot, toaster, and dual hot plates. The microwave is super small, barely accommodating a bag of popcorn. We couldn't use the hot plates, as no pots, pans or other utensils are provided. For the size of the room, the T.V. is ridiculously small; it was about 32”. We would have been fine with that if, the sound had worked properly. There are more outlets than most hotel rooms. One review mentioned a lot of the outlets didn’t work in the room; we learned that there is a switch on the wall that, when flipped, controls the power to the outlet, so be sure to try all switches. The shower was nice and large, with plenty of room; however, the shower curtain was 6” too short, causing water to go everywhere. There was nowhere to keep your soaps or shampoos in the shower, so we ended up storing everything on the ledge behind the toilet. There was small metal shelf that was big enough to hold the hotel bar soap, but that was it. If you are in a room street side, it gets really loud and noisy in the evening… more so on the weekends. It’s due to a mix of the traffic going up and down the strip and then further compounded by the late-night party goers driving up and down the strip. Overall, the room itself was clean enough. All of the housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and they always greeted us as we would pass by on our way in or out. The furniture in the room is pretty well worn. We did spend a little more time in the room than we originally planned; however, we were pretty comfortable. The room was quite large and gave us plenty of room for all of our things and to move around and about, without feeling like you’re in a cage. The WIFI is essentially non-existent. It would come and go at will. We did mention something to the front desk, twice. They assured us that the router would be reset and should resolve the issue. If they did reset the router, it didn’t make a bit of a difference. Thank goodness we had downloaded the shows we wanted to watch on Netflix. My husband tried multiple locations within the hotel lobby to access the WIFI so he could check his work email. He did run a WIFI speed test, which it failed miserably. If you plan on using any streaming services, or checking work email, be prepared to use your phone as a hotspot or go somewhere else where there is free WIFI. There was an ethernet port in the room; however, as like most things within the hotel, it did not work. If you’re planning on a refreshing swim in the pool, think again. The hot tub is built within the pool itself and has a water feature that goes from the hot tub into the swimming pool. The hot tub was a decent temperature; however, because the water runs from it, into the swimming pool, the pool water is way too warm on a hot and humid Texas day. We relied on the ocean every day for cooling us off. Which by the way is NOT exactly as close as they make it out to be. If you want to walk to the beach, you must go out the West side entrance of the hotel, that faces the strip; walk about 2 ½ blocks South to the CVS, where you take a right. Then you walk about another block or two to reach the beach.

If you are wondering if this hotel will work for you because the other hotels are outrageously priced for one night this is the review to read. I normally stay at Marriott but I waited too long to book the room so I figured this would work since it was just 2 of us and I knew that we really only needed the room to sleep and shower in. Unfortunately this was terrible thinking. Although the room was a semi decent price ( $200 )for the night, the building is incredibly old and in need of a serious repair and renovation. It has the 90s casino carpet, mildew is obvious on the walls,  it smells, and the elevator and glass doors have been scratched up severely.  Although the front desk lady was very nice and told me that she upgraded the room with a sofa bed I would never suggest a human sleep on that sofa bed. We didn't even sit on it since it was collapsed in the center.  The actual bed was SOOOO uncomfortable and the pillows were either hard or lumpy.  There is no comforter,  just a blanket as thin as a flat sheet. There is no curtain over the window so if you need complete darkness to sleep good luck.  The ac stays on all night regardless of the setting so if you need quiet to sleep good luck.  For the most part it was clean but I did see two bugs crawl underneath the baseboard in our room. I am 5'2, 110 lb and the towels barely covered my body. They are freakishly small and very thin. There are signs all over the entire hotel that say they will charge you $200 if you take towels out of the hotel to the beach but I'm not sure that they do that because clearly they do not invest in good bath towels.  The water temperature in the shower was incredibly odd. It took forever to get hot but once it did it was like you were forced to have a searing hot shower bc the water temp wouldn't turn down.  There was NO soap at the sink or in the shower so bring your own. No laundry bag so bring your own. I woke up sneezing with a nose full of snot, probably bc of how poor the air quality is in the building. If you have allergies or asthma (which i don't) i imagine you'd be miserable here.  Overall,  lesson learned.  You usually get what you pay for although in this case, for what we got it wasn't worth more than $100.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. My mother in law booked two rooms at this hotel for our family to stay at. Do not believe any of the 5 star reviews for this place, as I believe people are writing them for the condos next door that share a similar name. This hotel is one of the worst I have ever stayed at. Upon first entrance, you pull your car into a dark and dingy garage with tight parking spaces. There are signs everywhere about towing, so make sure you are actually parking in the hotel’s parking area. Once you walk into the lobby, there are filthy dirty chairs lined up in the lobby. Elevator up to room passed by a window that was partially shattered (not all the way through but enough you can tell the window is broken). The filthiest windows that clearly haven’t been washed in who knows how long. Upon exiting the elevator, the hotel reeked of pot and who knows what else. The room we were in had an area where a dishwasher possible was at some point, and it had graffiti tagging inside of it!! That was a first staying in a room with graffiti. The air conditioning unit was decrepit and there was mold all around the unit. Shower had strands of long hair on the wall and ground, and we found hairs on our pillows. The carpet felt visibly dirty. The pool was open one day of our stay, and the next was cloudy and closed. Room was never cleaned during our stay and towels were minimal and worn thin. I saw another door to a room opened, and it looks completely different than ours. Maybe they are in the process of remodeling the hotel, but this hotel should be shut down. I can put the old state of the hotel aside, but there is zero reason that there can’t be pride of ownership in what they have and at least keep it clean. There also is no beach access. Save whatever money you were going to spend here and go stay elsewhere. Absolutely avoid at all costs. Trust the 1 star reviews of this place, they are the best insight as to what you are getting yourself into.

WORST hotel experience I have ever had! They charged me double & were extremely rude when it was there mistake. I booked a room directly with the hotel for two nights at the Sunchase 7/15 & 7/16 for two adults. When I checked in I was informed that all the bars, the club and the restaurant were closed and would remain closed during our entire stay which was pretty disappointing, especially because we were not told this until we got to the hotel. Later that night I noticed they charged my card for an extra night so I went and talked to the front desk and they said they would take care of it tomorrow at 2:00 pm and couldn't do anything about it until then. The next day at two I had to go talk to them again because they still had not removed the charge. I told the manager this and she was very nonchalant towards me and told me that it must be my bank & I needed to call them. I talked to my bank and they said that there was no refund issued so later that day I spoke to the owner of the hotel who said it would be fixed. Well that evening at dinner I was mortified when I saw the hotel had not given me a refund but instead charged me for another night! When I got back I told the lady manager that this was very upsetting and stressful and it was ruining my vacation and needed to be taken care of immideately. Finally she fixed the charges and I thought it was fixed and went to sleep only to be woken up early in the morning by the front desk calling my room and the RUDEST person I have ever talked to telling me that I haven't paid to stay here and need to come down immideately. Furious I got out of bed, threw on my clothes and went down to the lobby. When I got there the manager told me that the girl at the front desk made a mistake & it was an accident. I could not believe how I was being treated as a guest it was completely inappropriate. I once again talked to the owner who once again was no help & told me that he would extend my check out from 11 to 1 which didn't benefit me since I was already packed since I was abruptly woken up by the employees. I told them needed a discount off of my stay, they told me that they couldn't do that but they could give me a coupon for next time. Ready to be done with this place & never come back I took the coupon. When I looked at it it I noticed it was only valid September, October November of 2015. Even though I had no plans of staying here again I was pissed at the fact that they were trying to scam me. So I talked to the owner he told me that he would take it whenever even though it said otherwise. I asked him to write that on there and initial it & he told me that he didn't actually mean all other times so he revised it & said valid June - August 2016 excludes times during festivals, holidays, or any large events. On top of all this we had absolutely no clean towels the entire time. I would NEVER come back to this hotel and I would advise all others...

was threatened by a Mexican male working the front desk on the second shift he would sue me for slander and calling the police because, I complained about||housekeeping threw away the plastic bags that I saved with napkins, a fork and knife on the kitchen counter, and the packaging for cooking instructions to cook my microwave diners on top of the refrigerator since; they're too big to fit in the little freezer.||||He defended housekeepers and blamed me for not putting a sign on the door knob. I said, unless it is in the garbage, you do not touch anything that belongs to the guest. I walked away and he kept talking. I said, dude you're pissing me off. He comes from behind the counter and says, you don't disrespect me. I will call the police for cussing and I will have you arrested for disorderly conduct. I came back and showed him the sign that said, maid service please. I did not want service and put it out on the door. I made another trip to my car and left my key. I went to the front desk and said, I need to get back in my room. He jumps up and yells at me, "You need my help now. You need my help now that you can't get into your room." I told him I would call the people I booked the room and call your boss and get you fired.
