This cozy spot has just opened today, but I had a preview yesterday. I have longed for a good Creole restaurant in Northern Utah, and the time has arrived with the opening of Creole and Sliders Cafe.
This restaurant is the continuation of a dream for owners Frank and Jovanna. They opened a restaurant in San Diego many years ago, but Frank (who played football for U of U) had long wanted to return to the beehive state.
The time-honored recipes that Jovanna lovingly prepared have been handed down from mother to daughter for over 100 years in her family, and boy is the food good! I had the red beans and rice and it was delicious! I came back in a few days later and got their delicious Gumbo, and it did not disappoint! Also their desserts are all homemade and delicious. I love a good Peach Cobbler, and I have seldom found one better than Miss Jovana's!
This small restaurant is located in a small shopping cove on Main Street not far from and north of I-80. I look forward to going back to try more of their fantastic Creole creations. If you're looking for Cajun, don't come here... Creole is a whole different animal, but you should let them explain that!
Come here for your fix of Southern...

The red beans and rice are rich, smoky, and deeply comforting, while the brisket sliders—topped with homemade coleslaw and tender beans—are little bites of Southern heaven. But the true star? The cornbread. Moist, buttery, golden perfection that tastes like it was baked by angels.
Every bite melts in your mouth, and the flavors sing with soul and tradition. To top it all off, the owners are absolutely fantastic—warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Dining here feels less like a restaurant visit and more like catching up with old friends over an unforgettable meal. Can't...

The decor confirms their bonafides, even before you get to the food itself. Fridays only they offer the gumbo, had the seafood which included chunks of sausage, chicken, and shrimp. Just the right amount of spice and filling too. Looking forward to trying out some po boys and jambalaya in the future too. Cute little spot in a tiny strip mall, but well worth...
