Unfortunately, I can't use the language and expletives necessary to express my anger for this place! After purchasing Level Crossing beer from the liquor store many times, I was really looking forward to trying my favorite beer on draft yesterday, but that did not happen. My wife, my 82 year old mother-in-law (who cannot drink) and I walked to the door for our first visit only to be turned away immediately because my MIL didn't have I.D. Being 82 and battling Alzheimer's Disease, she no longer has need for I.D., and nor should you need to demand I.D. from her or any senior citizen!!! In short, you've lost a customer! We will never return to Level Crossing, nor will I ever buy your beer again! With customer service like this, I will find other beer to drink and other places to eat in Salt Lake City!
Update: Nearly a month has passed since my initial review here, and we went to Squatters last night. Squatters was fabulous! We were immediately seated (without being rudely harassed for I.D.), we had prompt, courteous and responsive service, and the food was excellent. I also had the chance to try one of their brand new IPA's, and it was very good! I will definitely be going back to Squatters!
Response to owner: Sounds like you need help! So, from the DABS website, see the following:
You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase, possess or be provided with any alcoholic beverage in Utah. Therefore, proper identification is required to prove age before a person may obtain an alcohol product. In all bars and bar areas in restaurants, a patron who appears to be younger than 35 years old must also have their identification checked by an approved scanner. If you clearly appear to be older than 35 years old, you might not need to provide identification.
Some businesses will always require an identification check as their business policy. It is best practice to have your I.D. ready if you are planning on ordering an alcoholic beverage. Acceptable forms of identification include:
A valid passport A valid U.S. driver’s license A valid U.S. military identification card with a date of birth and a photo A valid U.S. state issued identification card.
When an 82 year old woman walks into your establishment, THERE IS NO NEED TO ASK FOR HER I.D. When a sixty year old man and woman walk into your establishment, THERE IS NO NEED TO ASK FOR THEIR I.D. In either case, it is CLEARLY OBVIOUS to know we are of legal age to consume alcohol in ANY STATE OF THIS COUNTRY! Yes, it is time for you to reevaluate your policy, and state law DOES NOT require zero tolerance, but I'm sure you knew this. You booted us out. We won't be back, but thanks for the invite, anyway. I'll stick...
Read moreWe have come here a few times with no issue, we love having it down the street. Unfortunately today we came to have some day drinks out on a Saturday bike ride and received horrible service. I’m not sure if someone was having a bad day or what but it was enough to put a sour taste in my mouth that I won’t be going back. I will try to explain here. We rode up with a group of 5, waiting on a sixth with a doggo. We got seated and the table was in the sun halfway and kind of a scorcher of a day. We sat down and waited for the server to come by. We tried to ask as she was walking by if it was ok we had a friend coming with a dog and she ignored us. The table next to us said yea dogs are allowed. So sweet we are good to order but the sun is a little much. So we waited for her to come take the order, my girlfriend asked what mixers they had for liquor since she doesn’t drink beer. We asked for the mixers with(look I get it we come to a brewery and ask for liquor but still we are just trying to support our local businesses). After getting the attitude we figured let’s move into the shade area and maybe get a new server, plus out of the sun. So we asked the hostess, and were told that sounds good no problem. Then a couple mins later the host (not sure her name sorry didn’t have a name tag) comes out and says “well now that your in the shade your fine right?!” We say ok we just were thinking maybe moving into the (empty) tent and changing server. Then we got the “well it’s not a problem unless you make it a problem” speech. At this point it became awkward and we felt like it was the equivalent of “go F yourself” so we decided let’s get out of here. Our whole group was dumbfounded and so we moved on down the street . I won’t recommend this place to friends. They may not care and that’s ok, but treating people like trash is not ok. So if that’s how you run your business I’m...
Read moreEditing my review as a response to the owner: i realize I may have been harsh because we were barely able to eat that night. Fortunately, were were able to rush to the Bayou who did not have an issue letting us order 10 minutes before their official closing time. But I think there is a general disconnect as to what 'Closing time' means -- I sense that this definition may have evolved due to COVID. Prior that, the closing time meant when a restaurant stopped letting people in. Now, it seems like this definition has evolved to mean: 'Time for everyone to be out'. Very confusing indeed, and hence the need to make this crystal clear on Web sites.
Original review: My wife and I tried to eat at the West Temple location tonight Aug 17th. We arrived at 9:30, well before the posted time of 10pm, and the door attendant, a man with a beard, had the arrogance to tell us that the kitchen had closed 2 minutes earlier, but that of course, we could still have drinks. We drove about 10 miles to have a decent pizza at a restaurant that advertised being open until 10, arriving 30 minutes before closing, out of respect for the staff. Not only this is extremely rude, sorry to say, it also shows some level of stupidity, because how are the customers supposed to ‘guess’ what is the cutoff time to no longer be able to eat? Would that be 10 minutes before closing, 40 minutes before, an hour before? None of that information is posted. We have had pizzas there in the past, and we thought they were good, and were considering coming regularly. But now forget it, the disrespect shown to the customers did it for us. We will never set foot in this...
