We've been regular customers at the parent restaurant, Vertical Diner, so we were excited to find that they'd opened another location, this one with more of a deli/burger joint vibe. According to one of the employees, Vertical Deli is the only all-vegan drive-through restaurant in Utah! Edit: Went back for round 2, and it was so bad I wouldn't go again. We ordered the reuben again, and it was completely inedible. The meat slices were not chopped up like they were last time, the bread wasn't buttered, and there was so little meat, it was a little absurd. The meat was also so overcooked and chewy that the whole slice pulled out of the bread each time we took a bite. Awful. Read moreThey’ve got a long way to go. Italian sandwich had no spice, very little flavor. There was nothing Italian about it. It was like a turkey sandwich with a tiny squirt of Italian dressing on it. So sad, Italian was my favorite pre vegan and this was disappointing.
The chicken parm sandwich was inedible. We felt too bad to say anything. Rubbery, gluey, seitan. Reminded me of my first few attempts at making seitan, no excuse on this one.
It’s almost like they’ve just put recipes in front of folks that have no experience cooking these types of foods.
