Cafe Santa Rosa — Restaurant in South Tucson

Had terrible service here. Was the servers first day I guess. The kitchen dropped the ball according to the woman who check us out and gave me this ghetto attitude after we spent 15mins while they corrected our bills. I specifically told the gentleman prior to ordering we were on separate checks. We repeated our order which was correct. Food comes out except 2. One of them was her birthday after we were half way through eating. He came out to repeat the order. The guy didn't come back out. A woman waiter heard us all speaking about how terrible service has been and she brought us up to pull our order which it was messed up. One of the two woman had a awesome understand, apologized, said it was the guys first day but we had to correct the order. She got the manager to correct it in the pos because it was that messed up. Thats when the lady got snarky with me. I threatened to walk out if I'm greeted with her attitude in a situation I had no part of. So I refused to pay for a dish since the kitchen messed up and service was terrible. The place had 2 other other tables their waited on the female server who seemed to do well. Wish we had her. Food was good but I'll never set foot in here again. And all these positive reviews I'm bummed this was the experience I had. The whole experience was over stimulating and frustrating. I just wanna order a meal, get served, and pay. I'm very forgiving and easy going however that experience was...

The experience was rough from beginning to end. I never write reviews, but there was no effort on behalf of the restaurant to correct the issues and it left me stunned. When we sat down, the table was tacky to the touch. My friend ordered a soda which was out of syrup. He asked for a different soda which did not come until after the food and me reminding the server. We received the food, one plate was completely cold, another was haphazardly slapped together burrito, and my tamales were over cooked and hard. We told a server that my friends food was cold and she said she could fix it in a second, I asked if that meant she was going to microwave it and she said yes to which my friend said, Nevermind no thank you. My friend with the burrito said he was uncomfortable finishing his because he thought it would make him sick the way everything inside was cooked. When we went up to pay we told them what was wrong, no offer to cover our drinks, not even the flat soda we’re made, a discount or anything. “Sorry, we don’t really know what’s going on in the kitchen today.” Was the response. They even tried charging us $3.50 for a tortilla we never got. All of us have worked in restaurants before and don’t understand what just happened to us. We paid over $40...

I'm hoping we were there on an off day because usually this is one of our favorite spots and we usually get excellent service. Yesterday though 3/1/24 that was not the case.

The waiter was not a happy waiter. He was not good at listening, would start walking away while we were still talking to him about our order. So he would miss when we needed stuff like napkins, a spoon etc. We noticed everyone else was getting chips and salsa so we asked this other worker about the chips and salsa and he said " Well YOU have to tell us if you're wanting that." And walked away. We waited for our waiter and about 15 mins later he came out with a tray of three chips and salsa orders one was for us.

To be fair there was a rather large lunch party there. We ended up waiting 1 hour and ten minutes for our food after we put our order in.

The table was sticky. The caldo de queso was just okay and the chicken rolled tacos were fine enough. Won't be ordering those again though. Beans and rice were good and popovers very yummy. We also noticed the menu prices have gone up significantly.

Here's hoping our next experience will be back to what we have always...
