Last night was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had and itâs safe to conclude discrimination was at the core of our mistreatment. I highly do NOT recommend Sippin Silo and wish there was an option to leave zero stars.
We had a reservation for six as we were told over the phone that the number could not be increased (but walk ins are welcome). After our table of six filled, a very RUDE server explained that if anyone showed up they would be sat somewhere else in the mostly EMPTY restaurant.
We asked if the empty spaces near us were reserved and she stated for walk ins. Our additional friends walked in and were told they must sit at the empty bar and not any of the empty unreserved tables.
Two members of our group reasonably tried to speak with someone who eventually called the owner. Mr. Patel (according to Google) made it very clear that â[he] didnât care about our moneyâ nor did he care for us as a customer. He stated that we could leave. That is exactly what we did. However, before leaving another lady that looks like us walked in. I guess they thought she was with our group because for about 10 minutes no one acknowledged her.
We had a great time at another restaurant close by and witnessed Sippin Silo remain mostly empty- I guess waiting for walk ins or reservations that donât look like us. We will definitely be sippin somewhere else!
The only good thing about this place was our waitress, Ashley. As the other employees misquoted policy, gave hateful stares, took pictures of us- she continued to ask if we needed anything and was the ONLY person trying to be helpful....
Read moreOur book club had a reservation for six, but a few additional members joined us. We were understanding of the situation and simply asked if the extra guests could be seated. There were several open tables (none marked as reserved), and we assumed it wouldnât be a problemâespecially on a quiet Wednesday night in DeSoto County.
Unfortunately, the staff (with the exception of our incredible waitress, Ashley) made it clear we were unwelcome. One of the hostesses even had what I can only describe as a tantrum, suggesting our extra guests should sit at the barâcompletely contradicting what she had just told us about walk-ins being allowed at open tables.
After two of our group spoke with a man who said he was a relative of the owner (possibly of Indian descent), it became clear there would be no reasonable resolution. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, they seemed unwilling to accommodate or even speak to us with basic courtesy. Ultimately, we paid for our drinks and left.
Iâve traveled extensively and visited countless restaurants and bars, and I rarely leave reviews. But this place stood out for all the wrong reasons. If your group is diverse or your skin tone is a bit darker than average, be warnedâyou may not be treated with the same respect as others.
That said, a huge thank you to Ashley, our serverâshe was the only bright spot in an otherwise...
Read moreNow that I have the time to write this review, let me get it done. Why have the option to make reservations when you're not going to honor it when your guests arrive? Had reservations for two at 7pm to celebrate me and my twin sister birthday and when we arrived, we were told that we could either sit at the bar or sit in the waiting area until they had a table available and they didnât know how long the wait would be. We noticed that it was an empty table with no one seating and we asked âwhy couldnât we sit thereâ and we were told that it was being held for a party of four. So being that my sister had been wanting to try this place for awhile, we decided that we would sit at the bar until a table came available, but seeing the other party of three not four, of a certain race, come in behind us and be immediately seated wasnât fair to us at all, so we decided to leave. Why couldnât we be seated and they waited? Iâm highly disappointed and disgruntled that this is still happening in the day of time. Thank God we were able to get same day reservations at âNapa Valley Cafeâ where we were greeted with smiles, a personalized birthday menu and live...
