My coworker and I ordered the 3 tenders and 3 wings meal, and the cayenne ranch chicken sandwich with fries. Then we also got the strawberry cheesecake in a jar dessert. I saw this place on Google, it's new so I was like... I'm down. My customer and I drove up and saw a long line for the drive thru, even though the chick fil a was a block down the street. We parked about a quarter mile out because the parking lot was full. So far all gray signs of great environment and great food. We came in through the side door, we found the cash register, and the line was out the door. This made me more excited. The fried chicken smelled great from the outside. We waited in line about 15 minutes. A little long, but not too bad for a new establishment. We looked at the Togo menu while we're waited and picked out what we wanted. For the sauces, thet had some interesting choices. We picked inferno for our bone in wings, and sriracha garlic and mango habanero for the strips to dip. I live spicy and flavors. The place was a very family friendly place. We went to the sofa fountain station to get our drinks. They had 4 different types of tea drinks. Peach, raspberry, sweet and unsweetened. I mixed mine with lemonade and raspberry...it did not compare to the one you buy at the store made by Simply ( my favorite brand of juice). So to start that off, I was a little disappointed. Buy no big deal, i was the for the food. The wait for the food wasn't too bad, maybe around 10 minutes. Gave me time to get my drink and wash my hands. So the food comes out... the wings looked over fried, the fries looked ok, chicken sandwich looked healthy, and the tenders looked good. Remember I had the inferno wings....I couldn't tell if they made it spicy. It tasted like mild. But to be fair, i eat really spicy. Then i dipped my fries in the mango habanero, the sauce was too sweet and not enough spicy. Then i tried the tenders. The tenders alone were crispy and juicy. The sriracha garlic... was ehhh.. didn't really care for it. So a disappointment on the sauces and wings. Then i tried the chicken sandwich.... the buns tasted lime they were from McDonald's and the sauce tasted like a big mac sauce. The chicken was a little dry. I was not impressed with the chicken. And finally dessert...its pretty much cut up cheese cake with strawberries and whip cream put in a jar. It wasn't bad but not memorable either. Overall experience, food was 3 stars, not bad but not memorable, environment - 3 stars as well, typical diner. Staff and...
Read moreOnly giving one star because I have to. My first time visiting slim chickens tonight and I won’t be back. My husband and I walked in and we didn’t see what we wanted on the menu inside so we went back outside to make sure we had our order together because we were trying to get a family pack. We come back inside ready to order and step up to the counter and the employee is standing there looking at us but is still talking to his friends and not trying to take our order. Then when I am ready to place my order I tell him that I wanted the Southen Style family meal and he looks at me and says “What”. He apologizes for saying it and says himself it was rude but still doesn’t excuse the fact he actually said it or had us waiting so long while he played around before asking us if we were ready to order. We also weren’t looking at the menu screen above him so it’s not like he didn’t know whether we were trying to figure out our order still or not. Finally after getting my order placed he gives us our number and we go sit while we wait and there were some bugs on the table. Not impressed and will not be back. Hopefully the food will be better than my experience.
Update: When my food was ready the same cashier brought it to the table I was waiting at. He snatched up the number he had given me and went to walk off without a thank you come again or anything. Keep in mind we weren’t rude towards him at all. Just completely taken back with how rude he was when we came back to the counter ready to order. The food I ordered came with a gallon of tea so my husband had to stop him and ask where our drink was. He looked at us confused and then said “oh yea oops ha ha I forgot” I get it if he did truly forget, but it just seemed like he was more interested in getting back to the counter area so he could continue to play around. When we get home the fries are soggy and the tenders honestly weren’t the best. They were dry and had no flavor to them whatsoever. I definitely will not be making a trip to slim chickens ever again. First and last...
Read moreMy first visit since they opened and I must say that the complete experience was exceptional. I have been a big box retail manager for over 20 years and I was amazed at the pleasant, outgoing and eager to serve cashiers and servers that I encountered. This is the 1st in the North Mississippi area and has only been open about 2 weeks, so it was absolutely packed! Nowhere to park, drive thru was crazy long and line inside was well outside the doors. I thought I’m gonna wait to see what the big deal was so I went inside to wait. I got through the line in less than 5 minutes and my ToGo order was ready in about another 5-7 min. The cashiers were happy and seemed excited to take your order and the prices were comparable to every other chicken type restaurant. Seating was plentiful, outside covered patio was nice and the building was clean and welcoming. Everyone had a smile on their face and the young lady that brought my order even told my to have a blessed day. Looking 400 yards at Chick-Fil-A it was packed also but not near what it was at Slim Chickens and this was at about 12:45p on a Monday.
My wife and I ate at home and every part of our meal was excellent. We both had tenders and I got some buffalo wings. We talked about how fresh and real that the chicken was and how it was cooked perfectly. So I have to say again that if you haven’t been then you may want to make a trip out. It’s going to be super busy being right across the street from the BankCorp South concert venue and the Snowden Grove baseball park.
So nice to have an alternative to CFA and it reminds me of Raisin Canes that’s I used to love when I lived in Phoenix, AZ.
Great job to Management and Staff for an exceptional job and going above and beyond in quality, taste, quick service and customer service.
