City Hall Cheesecake — Restaurant in Southaven

3 stars because the staff was friendly and my son's cookie(double doozie) and the wedge of cookie that came with my wife's cheesecake was good.

The cheesecake was subpar compared to what it used to be. My wife and I lived in Hernando near the original location several years ago, and that place was awesome.

The cheesecake at this place was not on the same level.

My wife had the chocolate Chip cookie dough cheesecake. It was decorated pretty on top/on the outside, but the whole cheesecake in the middle was just plain cheesecake. There was no trace of cookie dough or chocolate chips anywhere to be found in the cheesecake, only the wedge of cookie that was put along side it in the box.

I had the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake. Same story, different slice. It was decorated pretty on top/outside with 3 mini reesecups along the crust edge and had some chocolate icing on top. However, the actual cheesecake itself had 0 peanut butter flavor. I didn't taste any peanut butter at all actually until I ate one of the mini reeses cups. It was just regular cheesecake.

We also noticed that they had all the outsides of cheesecakes that had been cut into facing towards the customer in the case. You couldn't actually see the inside of any of the cheesecakes. I now suspect that that is because they didn't want people seeing that it was just plain cheesecake inside of every flavor before you order.

I used to order a peanut butter/reeses cheesecake at the old city hall cheese cake in Hernando and my wife always got the cookie dough. Both of them were always loaded down with peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie dough, respectively.

For $18 for 2 cheesecake slices and a cookie, it was pretty unacceptable.

I'm not sure if this is new owners, if we just got a bad batch, or if the recipes were changed, but I don't see...

Stopped in here right before closing Friday and got three slices to go- wedding cake, white chocolate raspberry and peanut butter chocolate and all were delicious! The interior is really cool and chic with a nice atmosphere. The three young ladies working were all very nice and polite- even while the first was doing a fine job handling our order, the other two came over to greet us and assist- great customer service! Was looking forward to trying the caramel apple type but it wasnt on the menu that day, so I have that to look forward to next time! Also of note the slices are $2-$3 less than the cheesecake place in downtown Memphis for a similar sized slice. Will be glad when the construction in the area is done- right now a bit hard to get in to, but worth it! :) Highly...

Enjoyed this place. I've only been twice thus far but have tried at least 4 flavors. The plain cheesecake w/strawberry sauce, white chocolate caramel, cant recall name of the 3rd one but it was some sort of triple chocolate, and one of the minis, w/caramel only. I don't know what some of the reviews are talking about that the cheesecakes are bland. Either I am lucky and got 4 flavorful ones each time or people simply forget that actual cheesecake isn't supposed to be super-sweet but an even, balanced yet rich taste. The 2 girls behind the counter were helpful each time I've gone. One thing for certain. I'm glad we have a cheesecake place nearby. Previously, that was hard to come by.
