At first, Everyone was super nice & friendly & came over to us just after we received our food to see what else we may need. (1st shift ) After we ate, decided to go back & order banana pudding to eat there, because the Lady that took our 1st order told us how good it was & it was homemade & we placed another order TO GO. Different staff from when we first came in, so I guess it was shift change. Waited 20 + minutes saw 3 other PARTIES OF NEW CUSTOMERS come in & recieve their food after I had placed our 2nd order. That was from 4:40 pm to 5pm......... Still was waiting, So i went back up to the front asked where is our 2nd order as I had asked for 1 pudding to eat there & a sandwich & another pudding to go, the girl said oh its all coming together. Ughhhh anyway, I go all the way back to the table, still No order! So I stopped the guy bringing out orders & asked if he could go find our order. He went back & found it & it was all packed up in a bag.......HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN SITTING IN THE BACK. 2 COLD BANANA PUDDINGS WITH A BBQ SANDWICH ON TOP. IM SO SICK OF BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHEN I went back up front the girl should have gone to find out about my order. I had given a 5 star review, but after the 2nd shift came in, we sat there waiting for 1 pudding to eat while we waited for a order to go while 3 other parties had gotten their food after I had ordered a pudding to eat in house. And we had plates on the tabled needed picking up also. No one came to table, nothing. Tried Cenral bbq in Memphis on Poplar a couple weeks ago, food was cold when we received had to go find someone to tell that & she got us food that wasnt cold & the brisket & nachos seemed fresher and warm so I guess its hit or miss with this place & depends on the time of day. I placed a to-go order for pulled pork bbq nachos and what I received was less than satisfactory. I got all the way home and took a single bite only to find that there was hair embedded throughout the nachos. Disappointing and disgusting but it wasn't the end of the world. It could be fixed, right? I called back to inform the staff that I would bring the order back to them, they said ok, and that was the end of that exchange.
On the way back to the restaurant, I received a call saying that my replacement order was ready - a replacement order that I did not ask for. I told the young lady on the phone that I didn't want the replacement but a refund would be great. She passes the phone to a manager who lets me know that since they remade the order(again, I never asked for a replacement) they wouldn't be able to issue a refund but they could offer me a 5-dollar credit towards my next visit since it would be a loss for them. A loss for them? What about my loss? I live about 15 minutes away and was driving back to the restaurant only expecting to receive the money that was paid. My expectations were communicated to the manager and I think that was more than fair considering. Instead, the manager believed I should be more sympathetic to their loss than my own. The manager then told me that she did not have time to argue on the phone all night and that I could accept or leave what she was offering.
I decided to leave it. I am aware that this kind of incident can happen anywhere at any time but the way it was handled by the manager was unacceptable. Refunding my order would have been the right thing to do but she was more concerned about her loss at that moment instead of seeing the bigger picture. Losing return customers because of poor customer service will cost you more than those...
Read moreNormally I don't rate restaurants however Central BBQ I give you a tew (that's a two)! From the start the young lady that took our order made a mistake with our wings. She punched in Sweet heat instead of Dry spice, and Jerk. I don't know what it was that we received they were supposed to be both dry but one was wet and tasted like a bad honey mustard. The server was quick to try and get our wings corrected but then brought us naked instead of the dry spiced! Out of 9 wings my wife and I ate 4 of them. The Mac and cheese seems to be a Dr'd up canned product that was quite undesirable. My son got the hot dog which was charred on one side and barely cooked on the other. The bun was cold,stale and hard. The bread that was served were stale slider buns that weren't even toasted, buttered or even warmed by a heat lamp! I ordered the half slab of ribs dry and requested hot/spicy BBQ on the side. I was then informed that the BBQ was at the drink station and our table. Unfortunately they both tasted like rotten socks! Thank goodness the smoke and flavor of the ribs was on point. Even my sons fries were pretty good despite the poor cook on his hot dog. The beer was cold as the two young ladies behind the bar. When I asked for a lid for my sons water she was full of attitude stating this was all they had! 61.00 +20% tip for a decent half slab of ribs and cold beer seems pretty rich in my book. Lesson...
