I usually enjoy eating at Denny’s, but today was pretty bad. Between the slow service on all ends (cashier/seater, waitress, and cooks), mismanaged expectations, and poor order management, I would not go back to this particular location again. I will start by saying that we came in at 10:40 AM on a Saturday, so I don’t expect it to be a quick serving. Therefore, my issues are regarding the gross negligence of the staff rather than the context of the day. It was fairly quick to get our drinks ordered, which was great, but then the waiting began. We ordered our food at 10:47. People who were waiting for their food before us got their food first, of course, but then new people came in and got served before us as well. Not just parties of 1 and 2, but a group of 4-5 people as well got their food first. My wife and I were just two, and didn’t order anything particularly special or complicated; we ordered a grand slamwich with a side of pancakes, and a veggie omelet with fruits and a side of pancakes. Our waitress asked me if I wanted some cheese, or another two options I can’t remember with my hash browns, so I said I’d try the cheese. McKenzie was our waitress. The minutes continued to go by as my pregnant wife continued to get hungry and tired. Our waitress came back a few minutes later to “offer anything while we waited.” I declined, as I thought the food would surely arrive soon after the long wait. The minutes continued passing and there was no food. Our waitress came back again to say she felt frustrated for us and offered if we could have anything in the meantime. I asked her if we could have our pancakes dropped off early and before the food, so she said she would see what she could do. They never arrived. Eventually, the food arrived at 11:21, after a 35-minute wait for a 2-person order (we didn’t ask for any refills either). The food was fast and warm, which is what we normally expect from Denny’s, so nothing to say about the food itself. Our waitress asked us if we wanted any boxes and we said no, since my wife was still eating. But eventually, after she was done and we were both clearly just sitting there, I had to ask her for the bill. I walked over to the registry and the cashier/seater was not there, so one of the other waitresses had to fill in and go really quickly. I think there’s poor staffing considering it’s a Saturday morning. When I got to pay for my bill, to my surprise, I was CHARGED for the measly sprinkles of cheese on my hash browns. I have been a waiter in the past and I always made it blatantly clear to my guests that if I am offering something, I specify that it’s a paid add-on or a free customization option. The wording here is crucial. “Would you like some of this?” Versus “would you like to ADD this to your order?” I don’t know if they get bonuses from getting add-ons, but this isn’t right. Read moreMy daughter in law and kids was here from out of town, we decided to go out to breakfast with I hop being close I said no let's go to Dennys in Spanish fork i-hop took forever last time I was there, well I order the t'-bone breakfast and a side of biscuits and gravy asking for a extra plate to share with my daughter in law, as i was not going to be able to eat all this by myself and my grandson ordered the sirloin dinner etc for everyone else, well almost 45 minutes later are food started coming and that's OK all kids was just getting hungry and anxious the waiter gives me just my t-bone steak biscuits and gravy and I guess some pancakes I didn't order but I guess I got that instead of toast not realizing he only asked how i wanted my eggs, my daughter in law said well tell him I was like no maybe he's new, I guess I'm having pancakes not a big deal my grandson asked for his mac and cheese that was one of his sides and he said he would be back with that apologized and left, halfway through my steak i stopped the waiter and inquired about the rest of my breakfast and the mac and cheese for my grandson, waiter said we don't have mac and cheese right now I think he said oven was broken or something was broken, can get you something else he said ok corn, and then I told the waiter I still need my eggs and hash browns he replied oh I must of missed that did you want me to add it on to your order no it should of came with my order he replied no I said I got the t bone steak breakfast no but I can that add too your order, I was like no never mind, well after eating and of course i didn't share my biscuits and gravy as I only had a t bone steak and cool pancakes to go with my food, I didn't care for the pancakes the waiter brings my ticket my grandson still inquiring about his corn his mom went out side with the younger boy as by now he was just annoying me and the other customers from sitting so long the waiter finally comes back and tells him we don't have any corn right now, ok I'm done let's go it looks like they took $5 dollars o( I guess) for no end eggs and hash browns cold pancakes I didn't want, lol my fault I said let's go to Dennys so...
Read moreI was trying to place an order for pickup, I called and it asked me to place the order thru their automated service, after I placed the order the automated service said it was transferring me to someone in the restaurant so that they could verify my order. When I was transferred the call ended. I called back and asked to speak to someone to see if my order had gone through, the guy I spoke to said “no we don’t have any orders” I asked him if he could take my order since I had already done it the other and their system failed. He asked me what I wanted to order, I told him my order and then he said they weren’t allowed to take any orders through the phone but that if I went in the restaurant and placed my order inside, they would have it ready for me in 5 minutes. I went in 15 mins later (that’s how long it took me to get there) nobody saw me upfront so I walked towards the bar and told the lady that I tried to place an order, it failed so I called again and they said they couldn’t take my order, so I asked if it would be along time to have an order ready she said “yea Its gonna be a while” she looked busy and continued to fill up the drinks.
