This would be a second visit to this steak house with very little chance of returning for a third.
The bar opens prior to 5pm but the dining room does not officially open until 5pm, at which time they begin seating those with reservations. We had reservations for 5pm and made sure to arrive a little early only to find the bar and lobby area already completely full of customers, standing room only.
We checked in with the hostess, at which time it became quite clear she was not interested in holding any sort of conversation with any of us. Her short, sarcastic response, combined with the look on her face was a bit toxic. She was obviously quite irritated with everything around her as she continued to work while mumbling under her breath.
We were eventually seated after a 15 minute wait only to wait an additional 15 minutes for someone to approach our table and inquire about our drink orders and offer ice water. Eventually a very friendly staff member approach our table to take our drink orders, she also informed us our server was someone other than her and that she would return with ice water for the table while the rest of our needs would handled by our assigned server. The table we were seated at could have been named the Bermuda Triangle, since she literally disappeared and never returned. Once again we sat patiently waiting for someone to return while all the other tables around us received service, but nobody returned to ours.
Being back to where we started while sitting patiently at an empty table, waiting for someone to return with ice water and finally take our drink orders, we eventually had to approach a server and ask for assistance. The server we approached just happened to be assigned to our table at which time he finally offered us his services. He took our drink orders and offered to bring that rare and infamous ice water we were promised so long ago. I was exceptionally happy to see him actually return with the, twice promised, ice water and our drinks.
So 45 minutes after arriving here and being seated, we finally had our drinks, HALLELUJAH! Since we had some extra time on our hands to discuss appetizers we decided to try and rush our orders and ensure we received the fresh bread baskets. The bread baskets arrived, it was very fresh and warm but obviously did not last long. We asked for more bread baskets, which arrived with our appetizers. I ordered the mozzarella sticks and found them to be mediocre at best. The cheese didn't seem fresh, it was hard and I had just concluded that they were store bought, but at this stage in my hunger they satisfied my palate.
They are still operating a virtual salad bar, not much has changed in regards to the options and once again I thoroughly enjoyed the salad that I ordered. The meat cutter provides the verbal menu and took our orders, I chose the Filet Mignon, medium rare, sweet potato souffle and I specifically asked for burnt onions to go with my steak.
At this point our dinner was finally moving along as we hoped, our entrees were delivered as ordered with the exception of the burnt onions, I specifically asked for. The steak was excellent, it was cooked just as I asked and obviously an excellent cut of meat. The sweet potato souffle was phenomenal, slightly sweet but not over the top, always a favorite for me and large enough for two people. We decide to forgo dessert on the basis of time constraints and the fact we were already three hours in and ready to get out of that booth.
In my opinion this establishment is not a finely tuned machine, it is obviously disorganized and lacking that level of customer service a finer steak house should be delivering. They were not prepared to immediately seat guests after opening the dining room and responded in a very disorganized manner while providing very inconsistent customer service. The first point of contact, the hostess, gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing her just by being there for dinner.
I would have to say overall the price point for this...
Read moreMost horrible dining experience ever. When my date and I arrived no one was able to greet us. A lady showed up but barely spoke and dashed off to do something else. She came back in about a minute and then asked how many was in our party and seated us left of the hostess stand.
In short order it became confusing because there were two different kinds is music playing. Easy flowing pop music was play as well as some bluegrass kind of music. It was like a race and the bluegrass music was getting louder to win. When I asked a very nice lady who was apparently expecting why was there two kinds of music she point to the next table and said they were playing music. She offered to ask them to turn it down, however I felt like the manager should have handled that situation prior to our arrival and since there were other patrons there as well, we did not want to have a conflict. I felt it was something that should have been resolve so that customers would not be blamed.
We were offered seating upstairs but there was no elevator. I am handicapped. So we were moved to a section near the bar. We ordered Caesar salads one w/croutons. The salad was full of the stalk and had only 2 croutons and Swiss cheese and not Parmesan cheese. The strangest dressing ever, definitely not traditional Caesar dressing.
We ordered a Oysters Rockefeller, and spinach dip for appetizers. Two of the 3 oysters I at had no oysters just spinach and cheese. The spinach dip had barely any spinach and so much cheese it was like thick cheesy mud, just no spinach flavor.
For dinner we ordered a New York strip and sautéed mushrooms. The steak had great Smokey flavor but no salt or any seasonings. My date asked for sone garlic butter for his steak and the waitress said they don't have any. I didn't understand why she didn't have someone make some! Garlic butter its a simple request yet she brought out hard cold butter to put on a Luke warm steak! We requested medium and it was closer to a medium rare. It was so tasteless that we requested container to take it home to add some seasoning to enjoy the large cut of meat. Last but not least the poor sautéed mushroom were drunk with the amount of wine they were cooked in. I took them home and rinsed them and added butter and garlic and they tasted so much better !
Also the waitress asked if I wanted another drink and I replied no thank you and then 10 min later she brought me a drink anyway. She never brought the water we had requested two time and gave up on receiving, but she brings a drink I didn't ask for.
There was another poor soul in the restaurant that ordered a salad that took over 20 minutes to receive and we were astonished that instead of of apologizing she debated that it had only need 15 minutes. It clearly had been longer but she complained to us about the man. Well later that man was so annoyed that he walked out without paying!
I have been to the Peddler in the old location and was always given a choice of steak to select from and I did see that happen with the table that played their own music but for some reason that tradition seem to end when my date and I sat down. I was very disappointed with our entire evening. No manager seem to be in the place and no one ever asked if our dinner was satisfactory!
I miss the days of the old location. Seems like the quality of the food and service was lost as well as the decor. The wait staff dressed rather gothic the black leather and lace mini skirts leave a lot to be desired. The Bartender and the young lady that was expecting seem to be the only professional people that we encountered. .Not sure what happened to the Peddler and I read the other reviews before deciding. I couldn't walk out a check like the other customer, but I sure understood why he...

Stepping into Peddler Steak House is akin to entering a meticulously crafted culinary theater, where the preamble is as thoughtfully composed as the anticipated main act. The initial reception is seamless, guided by an attentive host who ushers you into a sprawling lounge. Here, the bar program shines, boasting an intriguing array of bespoke cocktails priced with surprising approachability – a promising overture to the evening's potential.
The transition to the dining room is equally orchestrated. Rather than a traditional menu, the culinary narrative unfolds tableside. A knowledgeable purveyor presents a curated selection of prime cuts, highlighting the evening's specials with an almost reverent tone. Following this personalized introduction, a unique salad checklist, offering the choice between expertly composed standards and the freedom to tailor a bespoke creation – a delightful touch that speaks to individual preferences.
Our chosen appetizer, accompanied by freshly baked bread and a silken, house-churned butter, hinted at the kitchen's commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Each bite was a testament to foundational excellence, setting a high bar for the courses to follow.
However, the crescendo of the experience, the main entrée, unfortunately struck a slightly discordant note. The ribeye, visually stunning with its deeply caramelized crust and textbook grill marks, promised a symphony of flavor that ultimately fell somewhat flat. While the textural elements were undeniably present – a perfect sear yielding to a tender interior – the inherent richness of the cut was muted, lacking the robust seasoning one expects from a steak of this caliber and price point.
Our server, commendably attentive throughout the evening, promptly addressed my feedback, suggesting a selection of steak sauces. While appreciated, the reliance on an external condiment to elevate a prime cut felt like a slight misstep in an otherwise meticulously curated experience. Opting for a simple dusting of sea salt from the table, I couldn't help but ponder if a more assertive hand in the initial seasoning might have allowed the quality of the beef to truly shine.
Despite this singular disappointment, the overall experience at Peddler Steak House remains compelling. The seamless service, the unique approach to menu presentation, and the evident dedication to ambiance create a memorable backdrop. While the seasoning of my ribeye left something to be desired, the potential for greatness is palpable. I am indeed inclined to return, hoping that this may have been an isolated oversight, and eager to witness the full harmony of flavors this establishment clearly...
