Disappointing Experience – Tourists Take Note!

We visited this establishment on a Thursday evening around 9 PM, hoping for a relaxing night. Unfortunately, after waiting for 15 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff, it became clear that service wasn’t a priority.

We spotted someone who appeared to be a waiter, but despite serving drinks, he seemed more interested in chatting with friends. We watched him entertain the same woman for over 10 minutes, clearly prioritizing his socializing over attending to new customers like us.

Assuming this might be a self-service bar, we ventured inside to look for a menu, only to find none. The only information we could gather was that wine by the glass ranged from $9 to $18, though we weren’t entirely sure. We also learned that there’s a discount for people with a monthly subscription, which made us wonder if our lack of membership was the reason for the lack of service – perhaps only members of the "high-society wine club" receive proper attention.

My girlfriend and I found Bond Street Wines in passing by chance and both of us left having also found our new favorite date night location in Spartanburg. The bar itself is clean and inviting and the owner and host, Jeff, made us feel right at home immediately after we walked in. His generosity and warmth are best measured by his absurdly thorough knowledge of wine and it's industry. Such a great place to grab some very good wines and food. The staff knows the product and can find you great bottles of wine at your price point without any pressure sales. They know and love their products. They also have The Wall Street Gourmet Exchange in the back that has a great selection of meats and cheeses. They also serve a selection of salads and sandwiches to chew on while consuming craft beers or fine wines. Get a cheese and meat board while drinking your wine. Definately a hidden gem...
