Wendy's — Restaurant in Spartanburg

Ok.. this is so petty.. let's file it under humerus. I go to the drive through and order a small chili, sign says $1.99. Get to the window and the high school girl wants like $2.59 (+/-).. I'm like "what kind of tax rate is that??" Poor child .. she doesn't know anything because she's pushing buttons and reading totals. I ask for the manager.. she comes over 50 something lady... She's like "someone forgot to change the sign, but we raised the price to $2.19...". Here's where it gets good. I just look at her like "you know the deal. You have to charge what the sign says, I know that, you know that...". So she hands me a dime. I kid you not, with a straight face, she hands me a dime .. (now if you are not laughing at this point, you have a problem)... I say "what's this". She's "it's yours" for the difference... And she walks away... Now for those who don't get it, the difference is 20 cents not 10 cents, then the tax is on the $2.19 that she charged... So I am looking at the poor high school girl, holding the dime at the same eye level I have been holding it. She doesn't know what to say...and I sure as hell am not even caring about the extra 10 cents.. but not wanting to support to any degree a business who hires a manager who can't do simple math, and that doesn't change the sign before they up the price in the system... I give the girl the dime .. "put this towards your manager's education.. I don't need the chili... I went to a nearby steak house and had a small ribeye chili for $7.00. It was amazing... Cost more, perhaps was smaller, I don't know.. but it was a nice end to the day... Had to add a tip, and the tax... So about 4 times the cost of chili from Wendy's... I worry about America...

With the experience I had -- I could have rated it lower, but I had to stop and think about it rather than JUST react.

Context:. It's Sunday at 12:30(ish)

The drive thru was backed up to the main road, so we decided to stop and see if take out was available.

It was.

There was a pretty long line indoors in addition to the long drive thru line one can only imagine the speed of service.

Cannot remember how long it took to get to the register, but it was a while.

While waiting in line at least three of the four people in front of me had to return to the counter because of an issue.

...short story. It took forever to get my food and my order was not 100% correct.

But I will take some of the blame here. I did not specify I did not want cheese, therefore I received cheese. Not a hill for me to die on.

While waiting for my food, I just stood and watched how others were behaving. I decided I was going to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

I will give the manager kudos because in the midst of all of this chaos --- she kept her cool. She (and her crew) were doing the best they could considering the onslaught of customers.

I briefly spoke to her --- encouraging her to stay strong and keep up the good work. She just smiled and nodded.

Therefore, if you go at a non-peak time --- I am assuming your experience will be better.

If and when you choose to go --- remember they are dealing with social distancing; tons of drive thru customers; and trying to communicate through masks.

Two black women were discriminating me at the drive through. I ordered a large of soda and a large frosty. Guess what? They never get frosty ready as I came back for the 2nd time in short hours for more drinks. Let's remember this, im deaf and I cannot hear nobody or any noises. They mentioned I have to start to come inside from now on. I said no, thats illegal for you to tell disability to come inside. One of them said "I understand I have a deaf in family members" then why are you sticking up for her not me? You were basically discriminating me. Nobody told me that they have to make frosty. I was like okay why aren't yall ready by time I got back for the 2nd time? They proceed to tell me to pull up the door without any reason I didn't know why they were telling me until police showed up as they called on me. They mentioned they had to make frosty and told me nothing but told police? Yall messed me up now im being charged for trespassing.. how the heck do I get charged for trespassing because yall never told me why I need to pull up when it was just a drink and a frosty? Minutes to make. Miscommunication leaded me to be charged for trespassing. Thats messed up of yall wendys on blackstock for real. I was being nice and yall giving me stink attitudes.
