Top notch service, all of the servers were moving with a purpose ensuring customers were pleased with their dining experience. Our server was the epitome of a friendly professional, she was always there when we needed something but not so present that her presence was negative in any manner.
Ordered the Scottish eggs and the Celtic clams for appetizers. The Scottish eggs were good, but not exactly our thing. The Celtic clams were severely lacking, not in quality or preparation; they lacked size. We’ve never seen clams as small as these, each clam’s meat was smaller than a dime; most about half the size of a dime. Width was around a quarter. I’m sure it weighed 1 pound as advertised on the menu, just keep in mind 98% (probably more) of that weight is shell.
For entrees we ordered the fish and chips, the shamus burger, the Irish burger, and the butte pastie.
The fish and chips is a really sizable piece of fish. Good crisp on the breading, the fish remained juicy. The chips are listed as fresh cut, but they seemed like they were not fresh cut. Good crisp, but the interior was unlike other fresh cut fries we have had at every other restaurant with fresh cut fries across the nation.
Shamus burger - quality burger with great ingredients. The bread and the bacon both stood out as really great quality tasty components. Extremely filling burger.
Irish burger - quality burger also with great ingredients. I didn’t get a taste, my 10 year old granddaughter inhaled it too quickly.
Butte pastie - quality dish. It is a comfort food dish, it tastes good without bold flavors. It has plenty of yummy beefiness and it will fill your belly, but it won’t make you savor every bite while you attempt to ferret out all the nuances. It is very straightforward, a beef hug wrapped in similarly comforting high quality breading. Not too cold in Spokane while I type this, but this dish seems like it would be perfect while it is silly cold outside.
We ordered two rounds of two beers on tap, four different beers. All came out just right, coldest tap beer we can remember aside from frosted mugs which could hide how cold a beer actually is. Highly recommend this place if you are wanting cold beer on tap served by attentive friendly...
Read moreThis last time was mediocre. Usually food and service are excellent here...but then again, I haven't been here for a few years...so maybe the quality isn't as high as it used to be. Or perhaps it wasn't as good because they were super slammed the night we visited.
3 of us ordered fish and chips...all of our fish was hot but the fries underneath the fish were cold and dead...the server brought hot fresh fries out when we said something but I have to say I think this is the only time I've gotten cold fries served with hot fish at an Irish pub. I also suspect the chef must have known the fries were dead and just decided to let it go out anyway...which is a little disappointing considering the 40+ minute wait time for food after we ordered.
Scotch eggs were good...especially with the spicy mustard they serve with it, but the sausage was dry and overcooked. Pretzel was the best thing I ate that night...it was big, delicious and perfectly cooked.
Drinks were good...prices were reasonable. It's definitely a lively Irish pub...the atmosphere was great. The staff (bartender, hostess, guy who was presumably is the owner) were friendly and fun to be around :) our server, on the other hand, was not super attentive (again probably because of how busy the place was) but did get us...
Read moreReally loved the Celtic music playing live! It was the highlight of being there. Friendly service and cozy warm environment. Have only been there once, and ordered the fish n chips. The fish was overcooked but they promptly replaced it. I wasn't impressed with the type of fish, it didn't taste like traditional cod, and perhaps it wasn't, I don't remember. Cod that is a preference for me, so it was a bit bland for my personal taste. I don't know if it was lack of flavor in the fish or the batter, either way it was missing something for me. They do offer malt vinegar and tarter, I do love malt vinegar on fries and fish. I was hoping they would have authentic scallop potatoes made with Irish cheese, on the menu. They did have other things on the menu that I am looking forward to trying out next time we go. Such as Irish Stew, corn beef, and the rueben sandwich. Our waitress was terrific. She was warm, friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. Lovely person, who reminded me so much...
