Soulful Soups & Spirits in downtown Spokane offers a refreshingly straightforward dining experience that I find incredibly appealing. This quaint, cozy lunch spot specializes in what its name suggests – soups – and also features a small bar, making it an ideal destination for a quick, satisfying lunch.
The charm of Soulful Soups & Spirits lies in its simplicity and focus on quality. Every soup I've tried here has been of high quality, indicating a dedication to their craft. A particularly delightful touch is the option to pair your soup with a slice of warmed beer bread, which I highly recommend. It's a small detail that significantly enhances the overall experience.
The ambiance of the place is unpretentious and straightforward. Meals are served on aluminum trays, providing a no-nonsense yet comfortable dining experience. The menu rotates daily, usually offering a half dozen or more selections. However, staples like the classic tomato basil and chicken noodle are typically available, ensuring that everyone can find something to their taste. The option to sample soups before ordering at the counter is a thoughtful addition, allowing patrons to make informed choices. Moreover, the establishment is accommodating with to-go orders, which is a great convenience for those in a hurry.

The service was awesome! I had peppermint tea with cream, a delicious salad that I assumed would be normal sized but turned out to be more than generous. I could have taken half of it home; very fresh!
The bread... where and how does one even begin? The only thing I've come up with is that it's the pound cake of breads. I could take it home and have zero regrets in the morning. So dense in a non grain-filled way...just melt in the mouth with a Melody that hits every note of the flavour scale.
They have some great beers on the menu and after I saw that salad I knew I'd have to wait until my next visit for some of that soup. I took a taste of my dinner mates and it confirmed my suspicion that it would yell my name until I get back there.
Go. 100% go. Don't hesitate. I don't care if your friends don't think they like it - make them go. If they don't, you really won't care because you'll be to emotionally...

One of my favorites is the cheddar chicken soup. Thick, cheesy and slightly spicy, with big chunks of chicken and veggies. A dollop of sour cream that adds a cold creaminess to the hot spiciness. Matches perfectly with the beer bread,
As a soup lunch place, I'd give Soulful Soups and Spirits a very solid 4 stars. But what bumps this place up to a 5 star rating for me... is the beer bread. It's a contender for the best beer bread I've had. Moist, sweet, and tastes like beer without being bitter. Even if you don't like beer, you will love this beer bread. I'd recommend buying an extra slice to go with your soup, as I find one slice is only enough for about half a bowl of soup.
The staff is always happy, polite, and fast. They seem genuinely happy to work there, and the mood of the restaurant...
