Spokane Boxing is a great place. Whether you want to fight, get in shape, and or need a place to release stress. This club is like going to see a counselor. I always leave feeling better than I did coming in. I've learned many valuable life lessons through the sport & from the coaches. I learned not only how to defend myself, but I also learned how to believe in myself while being humble, & how to treat everyone with respect. The sport of boxing has taught me many things. With coach Rick and extended coaches, I have been blessed to have had the guidance from many. Guidance that molded me into the man I am today. I never had enough money growing up to afford a membership, and Rick didn't care. He let me train still. That goes to showsthe love & character this man/coach has for his students, athletes, family, whatever you want to call it. Without this gym I couldn't imagine myself being as level headed as I am today. I believe I'd be in route on a bad path. I'm thankful for Rick and the spokane boxing club. Boxing is a sport that you can't play. (You can play basketball, football, but not boxing) you got to be self driven. This gym drives me to keep coming in everyday when I am training or going through a hard time and need a outlet. It has taught me to work hard and that you get what you put in. It taught me that I'm capable of whatever I want to do, along with others, no matter what walk of life I or others come from. From this gym I've learned to dive into my workout or what ever it may be, a job, a FIGHT, 100% or not at all. No excuses. That motto I use in my everyday life. I've learned from this gym How to be consistent and how to keep moving forward no matter how bad it can get(inside the ring, or outside of the gym) it's a good place to learn more about yourself. It's a great environment. Our boxing team is a welcoming family. I always feel motivated to train harder there. I feel welcomed by everyone. This gym has saved my life and gave me mental strength & lessons for my everyday life and future. I strongly suggest if you want to box to come try it out. Rick is a good man. He is a funny good man, don't take anything he says too personal. He just wants to see your reaction and what kind of person you are. He has best interest for everyone who is training there and he will get you to where...
Read moreI may run out of space leaving this review since we have so many nice things to say about this place. So here it goes:
if you have kids and you want to teach them what hard work and reward really means like really means not materialistic return but truly personal growth, character, community, humility including physical strength and confidence, this gym is for you.
We have two daughters 10 and 12. Homeschooled always so a bit on the reserved side we would say. This gym brought out another side of them and all thanks to the coaches that welcomed them from day zero. No skills needed no judgement period. It’s just not tolerated which is something you don’t see anymore.
This world is tough and mean, we felt this gym gave a sliver of what that may feel like and how to overcome it and anything that comes in their way. This is a no frills gym. No lululemon yoga pants lol.
Finally Rick Welliver the owner and operator is truly a gem. The humanity in this guy comes out in how he greets, treats and invests in each student and other coaches. The coaches are the secret sauce. They invest in each kid and adult who shows up to class and gives it their all.
We signed up to the gym while we were in Spokane Washington for 3 months. We are a traveling family so moving all the time. This gym knew we were short timers and treated us like family. We were seriously thinking of canceling our next trips to stay longer just because of this gym.
Favorite rule of this gym: “no one cares about your feelings” hahahah. Absolute truth in life
You will not find a better group of people to surround yourself and family.
absolutely priceless.
!!!!!Rick Welliver for city mayor!!!!! Seriously he needs to run for mayor. This is only guy we know that knows everybody and everybody knows...
Read moreI finally got myself motivated to make a change and decided boxing was the way to go. I had heard about Spokane Boxing Gym from friends and a fundraiser party thrown by local brewery, Iron Goat. I looked up the website and scrolled through the many videos of how Coach Rick gives back to the community and loved his dedication to making a change. I've been to 3 classes now and can't wait for the next one each time I leave. I feel empowered, motivated, and dedicated. Which is good, because Coach Rick won't settle for anything less than 100%. "ATTITUDE" and "WORK ETHIC" are something you'll hear him yell at you regularly. The gym is welcoming to any shape/size/age and everyone makes you feel welcome. I just dropped in during a class time I found on the website to check out the environment. I'm so glad I took the leap and joined. I know this is going to...
