We had St. George's BBQ catered into work. Here is my honest review.
Buns were hard.
Meat was not bad but not good either. Little smoke/flavor. Think small chunks and thin slices of bland, dry meat.
Potato side was ... interesting. Cooked well but so much seasoning, it will give you indigestion for the next hour.
Beans were tasty. Could have used more onion/bacon pieces but still very good.
I enjoyed the pasta salad the most, or so I thought. Had to dig for a couple pieces of onion and cucumber/pickle. Ate half it when I realized I was eating cucumbers/pickles with mold. I thought "Noooo. Couldn't be. Certainly it's just a variation of the skin." It wasn't. I scratched off white, fuzzy mold.
I lost my appetite at this point.
All in all, this was catered so I did not personally lose money but I wanted to still share my experience for anyone thinking of using them...
Read moreI loved the cozy vintage vibe of the restaurant. The staff was so friendly and lovely, my husband and I loved chatting with them! I had the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had in my life. My husband got the burnt ends and smoked chicken, which we both loved as well. The food was amazing and the price was unbeatable. You get plenty of food on your plate too, I had enough pulled pork for 2 sandwiches. Lot of southern sides, like fried okra, potato salad, fried potatoes and onions, bbq baked beans, coleslaw, idk if im leaving any out but there are a lot of options. You won't find this quality of food for such a great price anywhere else. We paid $27 and some change. Also right next door to a delicious and equally great...
Read moreHidden treasure! Stunningly delicious bbq in a small mom & pop shop.
Moist meat with thick smoke line. Vinegary sauce that's more savory than sweet. Pairs well with the hickory smoke. Brisket is fatty, which makes it exceptionally moist and flavorful. Curly fries are cut in-house and have a nice, homemade taste. Pasta salad is made in-house, too. Homemade custard is delicious! Freshly made sweet tea is legit sweet tea!
Shop is TINY. There are three (small) tables indoors and several picnic tables outside. Have more than 2-3 people in your party? Get take-out or catering. Servers were incredibly kind and knowledgeable about menu options.
We aren't local but will be happy to come here again on our next...
