Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Springfield

First let me start by saying i NEVER write reviews but i honestly don't think the servers or management values their jobs at all at this location. My family and I came in about 630pm today. We waited at the door for about 5-10min with MULTIPLE servers and staff along with management (I'm assuming he was a manager bc he wasn't dressed like the other employees) looking over at us. Finally a server came up and greeted us. She was very nice, told us to enjoy our meal and our server would be with us shortly. Well shortly turned into another 10 min before anyone greeted us at the table. Again multiple servers walked past us without a single smile or "someone will be with you". Finally the only server who came up to us was the original girl who sat us. Said that our server was doing something in the back and she would take care of us (which I don't believe was true but I can't be 100 on that) . We put our order in and our food came out about 10 min later. Chicken strips looked and tasted to have been from the night before just heated up and reserved. My daughter and I ordered salads and those didn't come till we were already done with our meals. Our server was very nice and courteous, and apologized about our salads and also when my milkshake was wrong. She took that (milkshake) off of our bill. She seemed like she was the only one cashing people out and seating people the whole time we were there. I work in the restaurant business and I know places are different when it comes to policies BUT I do know in every restaurant that your first priority are the guests. This staff tonight did not have that attitude. I was very disappointed in our experience tonight and won't be back until some changes are made. Re train your servers, retrain your "cook" and definitely get a manager who lights a fire under those girls asses to get...

Where do I begin. Well, went here on Saturday 7/22/2017 for lunch. Our party was seated fairly soon after we entered. That was really the only good part of the experience. We waited twenty minutes sitting in the booth for a waiter or waitress to take our orders, but one never did show up. Didn't even get anything to drink. We were handed some menus by the lady who seated us, but never had any employees come to our table after that. Looking around, there were 4-5 other tables that also hadn't gotten their meals and/or drinks. Meanwhile, we could see three of the waitresses shooting the breeze up behind the drinks station, and one just counting her tips. There were 5-6 unbussed tables, and 6-8 people standing up at the front of the restaurant waiting to be seated. This place needs either better personnel, better training for the people they do have, or more personnel. We've been disappointed the last three to four times we've been here, the service is consistently lacking.

The previous time we went there they didn't give us any napkins or silverware, didn't get either until 10-15 mins after the food arrived that time because our waitress was shooting the breeze with some co-workers up at the front counter. The Men's Restroom and dining area never seem all that clean when I go there either.

The place wasn't even that busy and they couldn't keep up, one wonders how they would keep up during a lunch rush during the week (M-F)... We eventually just left and went somewhere else where we were actually waited on. I don't know that I'll be going back, unless I go through the drive through for a shake...

It wasn't crowded but they were serving a large party of 32. The restaurants seating capacity that was posted was 150. We were told by the hostess that they were taking care of the 32 and we could stay but it would be around 45 minutes before we would get our food. This was our last stop before home so we decided to stay. We waited 20 minutes and we asked the hostess if someone would take our drink order. She said she would get it for us. As we were waiting, the waitress showed up and asked what we would like to drink. We told her that the hostess was getting our drinks and we were ready to order. We placed our order. After this the restaurant was started to get busy. The 4 people that was seated right before us had received their food. Then a party of two who came in after us and received their food. Then a party of 4 who were seated after us as well, received their order. So my wife asked the waitress where our food was. She repeated to us what we had ordered. We told here that was correct. She told us that she would go check on our order. After about 50 minutes total wait. Our waitress brought out another party of 4's order who hadn't been there 15 minutes. She never addressed us about our order. So we decided enough was enough. We went down the street to five guys. We ordered and 8 minutes later we received our order. Great food at five guys!
