Update 4/22/2021: Today I was off from work and walking back from Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers (review forthcoming). I walked by Chili Mac's Diner, and I knew that I had to go again. Sadly, their hours do not allow me to go during the week because of my work schedule. I ordered the full stack of Hot Cakes again, and they were phenomenal for the second time! They are so flavorful for the price. At this visit, they used freshly prepared batter, and the Hot Cakes were thick and fluffy! This is a great and affordable breakfast spot, and I love the diner vibe. The waitresses are both very nice. Give this place a shot if you are in or around Downtown St. Louis on a weekday.

I have lived in Downtown St. Louis for over two years, and I have walked or run by Chili Mac's Diner hundreds of times. Since I work during the week, I have not gotten a chance to give it a try. This morning on a walk before work, I decided to make an impromptu stop since I saw the menu on the window features Hot Cakes. As y'all know, I am all about pancakes. The waitress was very friendly, and I was seated promptly. I immediately ordered the full stack (3) of Hot Cakes. The Hot Cakes came out quickly, which was fantastic. Why? Because these Hot Cakes were excellent. They were light and fluffy and had great flavor. For only $4.50, the portion size was quite generous, and this meal was a total bargain. The syrup was also good, and it complemented the Hot Cakes well. The diner vibe of Chili Mac's was obvious, and I hope to come back in the future to give these another try. I am really glad that I checked it out! My advice:...

We just finished visiting the St. Louis Arch and was hungry for lunch. They had some upscale spots in the area but we wanted something quick and not that pricey. We randomly saw their sign and ducked in. It looks like an old fashioned diner where they cook behind the counter (like a Waffle or Huddle House). We were given drinks and menus quickly. I had the frito pie, which I thought might come in a frito bag, but it was plated and very good. I kind of wish I had tried the chili on spaghetti. I had a bad experience at Skyline chili once in Ohio so I passed but the chili was solidly good and I think I would have enjoyed it. My husband had two chili cheese hot dogs with fries. The fries took forever to arrive but on the bright side they were steaming hot. The ketchup tasted off to me. I wasn’t sure if it was the brand or if it had legit gone bad (very vinegar-y). I want to say both of our meals were about $8 each. We drank water so our bill was extremely reasonable. Definitely a nice inexpensive to dine after the arch. Sorry no pictures. I don’t think about it until we had put a pretty big dent in our meals. It wasn’t super crowded but we were traveling in the off season. It’s a small place so I can see it...

I asked a local one of the best spots to eat in the area and this is one he recommended. His friend had worked there 32 years so it intrigued me to find a piece of history from the area. Originally wanted just a sandwich but the frito pie had something they are more known for -chili. So I made sure to try it. I had the frito pie, it was like a walking taco but made with their signature chili. Was absolutely delicious and worth. It make sure to stop by and try this little place you won't be disappointed. Also, don't forget to order the attitude. There was one lady seemed to be running the show making the food and keeping things moving to get the crowd in and out. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the people working there. Fairy priced too which you don't see much of these days. May seem too cheap to be good but I...

This place probably at one point was great. Classic old school small diner, has a lot of potential. The owner cook & server all seem annoyed and tired- general feeling they could not wait to close at 1: 30pm.. guy sat down at 1:15 p.m. and boy did they seem annoyed. I sat just before 1:00 and was told I have 15 minutes to hurry up and order. Why bother to be in business if you're not happy that your customers are coming in??? Many breakfast items end @ 10:30am. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, however I ordered an egg over easy and it was way overcooked. Not a fancy place but if I want a runny egg don't cook it all the way. On the menu it lists ATTITUDE - FREE. SEEMS THERE WAS PLENTY OF FREE ATTITUDE- don't think its intentional - they just need to pretend to be happy they have customers!

Chili Mac’s Diner in downtown St. Louis offers a classic diner experience down to the charm of the boomerang countertops. It’s in such a prime time location across from The Met building. It’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists looking for hearty diner food. The ambiance is nostalgic, cozy and unpretentious with a retro vibe that takes you back in time. The menu has a variety of diner staples. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave full and satisfied. I got the omelet with jalapeños, cheese and onions. They’ve done this a few times and it shows. Service at Chili Mac’s is friendly and efficient with waitstaff who make you feel right at home. Prices are cheap, making it a great value for the quality and quantity of food you receive.
