This was the absolute worst sandwich spot I have ever eaten in. The restaurant was filthy and disgusting. There were so many tables with residuals of what the former customers had left. The floors were filthy. There was a young white male with shoulder length black semi curly/wavy hair with a snarky disposition when asked if I had placed dirty napkins on the table next to me. This same snarky guy gave me the wrong bathroom code number intentionally. The health department should pay this establishment a visit… Let’s not get started on the bathrooms. It looked like someone took dirty tissue and stuffed the bathroom sinks, floors, and made it a graffiti art exhibit with dirty tissue …I felt even more disgusted. I brought this to the attention of one of the younger workers standing at the front of the restaurant at the order line, a young black guy or girl with short dreads; I could not tell the sex. This individual acted aloof about it and was distracted and not paying attention at all, but did state, they were not responsible for cleaning the restrooms. I have never been to an establishment where it felt like the people were in the movie, “Get Out” or a “Twilight Zone” series… It was weird, deplorable atmosphere, bad customer service, and if this place was the last sandwich shop in St. Louis, I would NEVER return. . . Unacceptable-the owner of this establishment needs to clean house and literally clean house! What a waste of money, time, space, and presence. Do better… Running a restaurant in that manner will not last long. No one should have to be subjected to that type of eating environment. This is downtown St. Louis too…Absolutely terrible…
The owner has a comment under my review and did not address anything; furthermore, lied about me “publicly shaming” his employees… I do not understand what type of gaslighting rhetoric the owner is talking about. It is disgraceful. Furthermore, the employees I encountered were not friendly or helpful. I explained my experience. The owner is acting very unprofessional to say at the least… Don’t twist my words or DISMISS THE FACT that your restaurant was not on their A game today, regardless to a convention! A standard is a standard…I am happy that you are happy that I will not return!!! The food is subpar anyway! Good luck in life with not accepting accountability. . . Stop the gaslighting too… You sound delusional as a...
Read moreSnarf's. What can I say.
From the moment I first walked into those glass doors (conveniently located by MX movies and the Convention Center Metrolink stop), I knew I was in love.
Snarf's is the downtown refuge for the prosecuted sub sammich snob. Don't be fooled by the 9th street heathens that frequent the likes of Planet Sub, Pita Pit, or the hot food section of Culinaria with reckless abandon. Snarf's is the only sub shop worth your hard earned dollar.
The selection and quality of subs is all that should be judged when it comes to grading a sub shop and it is in this category that Snarf's soars so high above the others. From tried and true classics like a BLT or pastrami and swiss to the adventurous daily specials that challenge your very concept of what makes a sammich a sammich, Snarf's will never let you down. I once had a sammich that combined their blue ribbon quality brisket with coleslaw and bacon. It tasted like I was at a wedding on a Mississippi plantation in the middle of July. Maybe better. Be sure to always throw in a bag of Zapp's Voodoo chips (or one of the many other 'nawlins inspired varieties of Zapp's) to complete your order. I'm not going to say that you can grab another on you way out and no one will notice but I will say they are great chips and very portable.
I imagine a bright future in which I'm early for work and can get a taste of the breakfast menu. This is likely to not happen but a man can dream.
CONS: Fooling your friends into thinking you're going out for ice cream and going to Snarf's so you can have a fourth meal sub. The ice cream selection is lacking and you will receive flack for pulling this maneuver. If you make Snarf's your only form of nutrition it gets kind of pricey. Like...
Read moreMy experience on April 4th is not related to a food experience, after I witnessed the store manager completely lose her professionalism....I don't know if I would feel comfortable with her making my sandwich either. Sad that our leadership gets drowned out with poor behavior. Though the lady expressed that she didn't care about anyone else's opinion while she made sure to void and refund a customer because she made that decision....I felt it was unfair to her staff and also her neighbororing business. Whatever personal issues these two ladies have it needs to be left outside of work. Someone else should have made the sandwich as requested instead of the manager responding poorly and forcing her worker to refund the customer. I wouldn't dare let her serve me nor would I go after 2 pm since she insisted that ordering before 2 pm was the only way the young lady would get her sandwich...let people eat and lose the attitudes in customer service roles it's bad for business. I don't know what happened but I was included because I was sitting in the store...the manager disregarded everyone because of her personal issue with a customer that actually works nextdoor...do better ladies 🥀
*I usually have a pleasant experience at this location..this was just a messy incident that could have been avoided and handled with grace.
Refunded her sandwich but let her keep her soda and cookie...that's wild, refund it all lol now she needs a free sandwich from being humiliated on a lunch break. Too much control being abused...
