They just opened one in Ellisville or Ballwin (whichever) on Manchester. I saw the Gyro sign and I jumped a lane so quickly to turn into the lot! I have been looking for authentic Greek for over 10years out West...so I go in and I instantly KNEW the gyro was going to be sensational. I do consider myself to be a gyro hunter...The place is nicely new, modern, and welcoming. The husband & wife or brother & sister duo are so cute and so nice. I ordered the classic gyro with feta cheese. I didn't order extra sauce so I could tell if this place was a keeper or not. I got home and it was EVERYTHING I could've hoped for. The softest pita, just enough sauce, meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & feta cheese...Heaven...served in a round aluminum container with a clear lid...I don't know why BUT that packaging made me happy;-). Rounded up from 17/20. I've had the beef and falafel gyros with the works and tatziki sauce, the dolmas and spanakopita. One side of my family is Lebanese, grew up on this cuisine. Yiro does a great job with the food, service, price, cleanliness, and seating. Falafel appears to be made there, it is not the typical ball-style and has its own flavor. Dolmas and spanakopita as well. American music, though good taste. Family has a Bay Ridge heritage, as does mine, full disclosure, no relation. Only open for weekday lunch. Located in the former Hamilton Jewelry store, Yiro Gyro shines as bright as any jewel. When I’m downtown around lunch time, a stop here is always a must. The best falafel in St Louis can be found here and I love that this is a family owned business. All ingredients are fresh and come together in an authentic recipe.
