Stopped in for breakfast with my partner while staying at the hotel for work. The food is wonderful, however their servers need more basic training.
I had been in earlier that morning to eat alone, but decided to join him for his meal, and to enjoy another cup of coffee myself.
Our server, who I believe was named Vicky, was unbelievably rude and callous. She recognized me from my meal earlier that morning (despite not being my server at that time).
The inappropriate behavior started with her telling me (a petite female) that I needed to eat more since I didn’t finish my food earlier. She then moved on to telling me I “shouldn't touch my face”, after watching me brush my hand against my chin. Before I could even respond and ask why that mattered, she proceeded to berate me, telling me that my face would “only get worse”. I deal with genetic, cystic acne. I’m insecure already and in enough literal pain due to this. I don’t need some random middle-aged waitress telling me not to touch my own face. I truly have yet to understand why she felt comfortable bringing this up, and then also felt comfortable enough to continue talking about it despite both mine and my partner’s discomfort. By the time she finally walked away to get our drinks, I was in tears.
Each time she returned to our table, I was given another comment about how I needed to eat more food and about my appearance. It felt like I was in the high school cafeteria being bullied by some 16 year old girl. Needless to say, we did not tip.
I highly recommend the Station Grille do some form of basic customer service training for their staff. There are certain things that should never come out of your mouth while doing a...
Read moreI was attending a conference at the Union Station Hotel, and so I had a chance to eat at the Grill twice and enjoy room service once. I enjoyed the Spinach Frisse salad with added grilled chicken first. It had juicy, crunchy bacon cubes, a fried egg on the side, and hot mustard dressing. It may sound strange, but it was delicious! Feeling virtuous, I blew the diet afterwards on the bread pudding for dessert. Best ever! Warm, mapley syrup on brioche pudding with a small swipe of wild berry syrup. Incredible! Second meal was the Spring greens with candied rhubarb and more chicken. The Caesar dressing was good, but the salad barely needed it with the seeds and bits of sweet, crunchy rhubarb. Loved it! For room service I had the crispy chicken sandwich. I skipped the bun, and ate it open face with the hot cheese sauce on top. It was good, but my least favorite meal. I only regret I didn't have time or enough hunger for a larger entree - will definitely try one when I'm back in town. Service was excellent. Prices are on the high side, but the ambiance, food and service warrant what...

We stayed two nights at the St. Louis Union Station - DoubleTree. I'd say it's almost a given since this is a hotel restaurant that it's expensive, but I'll say it anyway, it's expensive. Your best bet is to go with the buffet since it is all you can eat for $15 and it includes drinks, that compared to just a normal egg breakfast without drinks for $13, and with the included omelet station it's the obvious choice.
The good is that there is a pretty wide selection, from the hot items with bacon, sausage, potatoes and eggs and omelet station. to the fresh fruit and pastries as well as oatmeal and variety of toppings even freshly made smoothie shots. Of course with any buffet there are always some items that suffer so expect that, one time the bacon was delicious and next time burnt to a crisp, another the waffles were great the next time old and cold.
Good choice (and almost only choice) for a full breakfast in that immediate area around Union Station unless you go...
