We visited The Pitch during a City match against Sporting Kansas. The lobby makes a strong first impression, and walking through to the bar and dining area, they've done a great job of recreating the feel like a British football pub - it really feels like stepping into The Crown & Anchor from Ted Lasso. Cozy sets of couches around the outside walls encircle televisions, an open center dining area provides many great places to sit, and the bar at the back is inviting beneath the row of large-panel screens.
Sitting outside, it's possible to hear the cheers and drums from City Field, which really makes it feel like you're at the match. Unfortunately, we sat outside for almost 30 minutes waiting for a server, and I had to ask twice to be served, and nobody ever showed up. We eventually gave up and moved inside where we were promptly served. The Fish & Chips we ordered came out surprisingly quickly, and was both delicious and reasonably priced.
Rest assured that when the match is on, all TVs in the establishment are tuned to it, and the commentary is loud and clear over the speakers. I've been to other bars that are listed on CITY's affiliates, and the experience has been mixed - usually they will show the match but not as the main feature or on a lot of TVs, and if they bother having the commentary/sound on it's barely audible. This is NOT the experience at The Pitch - it's clear that they set out to make this a destination for watching the CITY matches for those not in the stadium, and as a result, this is a GREAT place to watch the match. The restaurant was definitely busy the night we went, but not overwhelmingly so, and aside from the apparent lack of a server on the patio, the staff was keeping up.
Despite the challenges getting food service outside - which is surely an anomaly and not typical - we really enjoyed our visit, and will...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern, a brand new addition to the vibrant St. Louis Union Station scene. The experience was nothing short of exceptional, from the warm atmosphere to the delicious food and top-notch service.
Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately captivated by the well-thought-out design and ambiance. The place is a stunning blend of modern elegance and historic charm, perfectly fitting within the Union Station setting. The spacious layout and comfortable seating arrangements make it a great spot for group gatherings or intimate dinners alike.
What truly sets The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern apart, however, is the quality of service. From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our server was not only well-versed in the menu, but also provided excellent recommendations for both food and drink pairings. It was evident that the entire team was focused on ensuring a memorable dining experience for every guest.
In addition to the fantastic food and service, The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern also features an impressive selection of local craft beers and a robust wine list. The full-service bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day or catch a game on one of the many big-screen TVs.
Overall, I can't recommend The Pitch Athletic Club & Tavern enough. It's a fantastic addition to the St. Louis Union Station scene and is the perfect destination for a delicious meal, great drinks, and an enjoyable atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and trying even more of their tantalizing...
Read moreThe Pitch in Saint Louis is absolutely incredible. I cannot stress this enough. From the second we walked in, the place just felt ✨ comfortable ✨. We grabbed a loveseat, settled in to watch football on the big screen, and honestly I could have stayed there all day. It is the kind of spot that feels like home, but with better food and faster service.
The bartenders were amazing. Super fast, very attentive, and somehow always right there when you needed something, even with a busy crowd.
Now the food… wow. We tried the fried bologna sandwich (comfort food done right), the steak sandwich (juicy, cheesy, perfectly grilled), the loaded potato skins (rich and indulgent), and the wings. Let me just say, the wings blow BWW out of the water. Crispy, flavorful, and served piping hot. Everything came out quick, and everything was delicious.
The combination of cozy seating, huge TVs for the games, and food that goes way beyond “bar food” makes this place special. I felt so relaxed and happy there I did not want to leave. Easily one of my new favorite spots in STL, and I will be back every...
