My roommate stayed here with 2 others girls for a catholic conference this past week. The first night she found a live bed bug on her bed, put it in a cup for proof, & took it to the front desk to inform them the room had bed bugs, or at least bed bug activity. The man at the desk told her that there was only 1 single bed room for her & the 2 others girls to stay in & that there was no one available to check the room for bugs. So trying to give them the benefit of the doubt she stayed in the room, believing that werenât anymore bed bugs. The following 2 nights she stayed in the room & got bitten quite a few times & went to the front desk again to show them her bites, & to again prove there were bed bugs in the room. The man at the desk said there were more rooms available & gave her 2 different room keys that were to rooms already occupied, where the hotel knowingly allowed her to invade the privacy of their other customers. After the second occupied room, she gave up trying the different rooms they were offering her as she was uncomfortable with continuing the process of invading the privacy of complete strangers to get a room without bed bugs. Her & the other 2 girls stayed in a beg bug infested room for a 4th night where the manager of the hotel woke her up with a phone call to her room to discuss the bed bug issue. The manager did in fact record the incident for insurance purposes in case she needed to go to the hospital for the bites, which were bad but did not require medical attention. They had the room properly inspected & yes, they confirmed these girls had been sleeping with bed bugs biting them for 4 whole nights. This was brought to their attention the second there was a problem, it was brought to their attention AGAIN when the problem was effecting the health & well-being of their customers, & nothing was done until no one was staying in the room anymore. The most the manager could offer her was 1 free night stay at any drury hotel. Why would she want to stay at another hotel where they donât care if there are bed bugs, or if theyâre biting people? Very poor quality, very poor customer service, very...
Read moreDrury members redirected to this hotel through the Drury site- THIS IS NOT A DRURY. The chain didnât want to spend the money to make this historic building Drury quality. Pear Tree is their downgraded version, Iâm told. What this means- happy hour today was stale corn chips, ruffles, and pretzels and very inexpensive nacho cheese. The pool is cloudy-gray, and the shoebox sized hot tub is yellow. Like apple juice. Whether thatâs because it needs to be cleaned in general or because the 4 adults max that fit shoulder-to-shoulder think itâs cute to let their toddlers hang out in it is anyoneâs guess. Itâs 11:35 pm and weâve been waiting for a trundle/cot for hours rm 613 (we have 2). In a few minutes we will have waited until another calendar day for this. Not all rooms have hot water. We also have room 625, and 3 kids have just bathed in cold water after a swim; we were told that maintenance isnât here to fix it now. Upsides- gorgeous building, easy beautiful location, clean rooms, great secure parking garage. Stale or not, happy hour is a fun plus. Downsides- this is NOT DRURY. Happy hour is not a meal, like Drury provides. Pool is dirty, small, dated. Hot tub is truly disgusting. No hot water in some rooms, cot may or may not ever arrive. I repeat- this is NOT A DRURY.
Update: Manager personally assured us at 9:30 that heâd make sure there were cots in both rooms. Only one ever arrived. At 11:50 my mom went to the front desk, where the attendant who told her she was busy but would send up a cot was absolutely not busy. She then told my mom she didnât know where the cots were kept. After it was made clear that the cot was still needed, she reluctantly let my mom follow her to a housekeeping station and gave her and my sons a cot for them to take to the room themselves. The staff member never had any intention of getting it otherwise. Then, after midnight, the kids could...
Read moreMy stay at the Pear Tree Inn was an absolute nightmare. We checked in on December 6, and that evening, we discovered there was no hot water in our room. I went to the front desk to request a solution and was initially told that the maintenance worker was unavailable until morning. Frustrated, I started back to my room but realized that this was unacceptable. After all, part of staying at a hotel is the ability to take a comfortable shower, especially after using the pool. I returned to the front desk and insisted on a resolution.
The night staff claimed there were no comparable rooms available and offered only a single room with one bed, despite us originally booking a room with two queen beds. With no other options, my three children and I reluctantly squeezed into the single room just to take showers and make do for the night. It was clear to me that the staff member had no real intention of resolving the issue properly.
The next morning, I spoke with Stephanie, the staff member who had checked us in the day before. She apologized sincerely and said the treatment we received was unacceptable. Stephanie informed me there had indeed been other rooms available the previous night, including a king suite, which she immediately moved us to. She admitted there was no reason we couldnât have been placed in that room initially.
While I appreciate Stephanieâs professionalism and effort to rectify the situation, Iâm still appalled by how poorly the night staff handled everything. This experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and I wouldnât recommend this hotel to anyone. The only reason Iâm giving two stars instead of one is because of Stephanieâs intervention. Without her, I would have rated this place zero...
