I really wanted to like this place. I went with my family Sunday after seeing on their social media page that they had the viral fruit pastries. I saw on their fb that they were getting bad reviews but hubby suggested getting my own experience plus we were going because my daughter wanted to try them. I shouldâve went with my gut multiple times.
We get there and it started off fine. We waited in line and as weâre looking the unlabeled desserts in the display looked nice but didnât see the pastries we came for.
Also this place is called The Sweet CREAMery, with an ice cream logo, but looking at the menu, all you see is various coffee drinks and this finger food tray with different dipping sauces, but the ice cream menu is on a dry erase board. The patron in front of me ordered ice cream and when it came out it already looked melted? Probably shouldâve known then. Also, no prices on these items and you donât know that they even offer half the stuff they have because itâs not listed anywhere. Essentially asking upon request is the only way to know.
When itâs our turn, I asked about the pastries and they said theyâre making some currently and would be a while. It was disappointing but we were also there for other things and can understand as itâs a viral dessert. We ordered the Dubai chocolate bar, the covered strawberries, and the viral mango ice cream. My kiddo didnât like the chocolate lol which was fine but I did enjoy them. The mango ice creams are shipped in from wherever so this isnât a reflection of how they tasted on the business (almost like artificial perfume), but the chocolate shell on the outside was soft even though this is a frozen treat. So no crunch and my kiddo was disappointed.
As we were in line asking about the pastries, Amina, the owner came out to express that sheâs making some and can be ready about 5P. She also mentioned something with the freezer being opened since last night as to why theyâre not ready currently. She also said you can pre-order and they can call when youâre ready, which we had errands and I went to sit and think on it. After we finished the desserts, I got back in line and asked to pre-order. I asked for the ownerâs name and she introduced herself and shook my hand. I was excited and even now as Iâm writing a pretty scathing review, I understand Amina is a business owner and providing a service even big cities like Chicago donât offer. But donât offer if you canât handle it.
Time came and went and I called at 5 to get an update. The rude employee quickly explained theyâre busy and would call back in 5 minutes. Never called back so I made my way up there at 6. The same person is there and I advised I was there to pick up and the desserts STILL werenât ready! They were already in the process of being made when I put the order in and even 5 hours later still not frozen. I expressed my frustration and this lady had the nerve to roll her eyes at me! I asked how long itâs going to be and she rolled them again then went to get Amina. Amina explains this whole process of why theyâre not done and how they were busy and opening and closing the freezer for other products. I told her that I donât live over here (I live in the IL side) and this was already a long drive. She expressed thereâs a Belleville location but on their social media they said the pastries are only in STL. But now theyâre in IL? Just so much confusion and unorganized. My kiddo was with me and we left empty handed and disappointed. Her hubby apologized to us in our way out, but the damage had already been done. This place has so much potential but they really need to get it together.
If youâre a small shop thatâs already overwhelmed, donât offer viral desserts that take time and effort that you donât have either for. Thankfully during pre-order I didnât have to pay so Iâm not out on money but rather time. Also ask me if they ever called to tell me the order is ready? Also theyâre closed on Mondayâs so even if they were ready it wouldnât get picked up for 2...
Read moreWe finally visited The Sweet Creamery STL after seeing all the hype and glowing reviews about the Belleville location â and I never write reviews like this, but I genuinely felt the need to share our experience. In the six years weâve lived in the STL area, this was hands down the worst dining experience weâve had â and that says a lot. Weâre usually pretty chill even if something doesnât sit right with us, but this time it was just beyond disappointing. After seeing so many mouthwatering photos and an exciting menu, we were really looking forward to trying a variety of items. And given the higher price point, we assumed the quality would match. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all.
We ordered:
Strawberry Funnel Cake â They mistakenly gave us the Strawberry Shortcake version instead. We didnât make a fuss and let it slide.
Mixed Berry Crepe â They were out of blueberries and kiwi, so we got strawberries and bananas instead. Understandable.
Oreo Milkshake â It was decent.
Watermelon Lemonade â Honestly, this tasted like a mix of syrupy concentrate and bottled lemonade. It felt like zero effort was put into it.
Beirut Bliss â more like Beirut mess. I donât even know where to start with this disaster of a dessert.
First of all, when I asked what was in it, the person had no clue. Then she casually mentioned they were out of honey (a key ingredient, by the way) and said theyâd just swap it with strawberry syrup âto make it sweetâ â red flag right there, but I still gave it a chance because it looked promising.
Big mistake.
The whole thing was a total letdown. Bland beyond belief â absolutely no flavor, no balance, no bliss. The texture was watery, the layers didnât hold up, and I could barely make it past three bites without gagging. The so-called pistachio cream? That was the final straw. It was so flavorless and off-putting that it literally made me feel sick. I was genuinely nauseated.
When the food arrived, things went from bad to worse. The funnel cake was chewy and not at all the texture youâd expect â though the flavor was okay. The crepe, however, was completely raw and undercooked. It was rubbery, difficult to chew, and had that unmistakable taste of raw batter.
At that point, we were so disappointed that we ended up tossing everything in the trash â right there at the shop. Thatâs how uneatable it was. đ
We had driven 30 minutes to try this place and were genuinely excited, but sadly, it fell way below expectations. Definitely not returning. And to top it all off? $60 straight down the drain.
For those looking for a better experience, the small local sweet spot in Ballwin (with fewer menu items but way better execution) is far superior â and at...
Read moreI absolutely cannot recommend this place to anyone! My first visit to the Sweet Creamery was a complete disappointment. I walked in today with a craving for something sweet and was eager to try it out, but what I encountered was far from acceptable.
After waiting over fifteen minutes in line, I finally placed an order for three items. Once I managed to find a seat, I was struck by how hot it was insideâclearly, the air conditioning wasnât working. The employees seemed utterly disinterested in their work, moving at a painfully slow pace with everything they did. To top it off, I wasn't impressed by the attire of the woman who took my order.
While I was waiting, I noticed a family who came in and took their time browsing the menu. Despite their indecisionâwhich is understandable with kidsâthey finally placed their order, but when it arrived, one item was wrong. The woman's partner politely pointed out the error, stating that they had ordered a regular vanilla shake. But the employee tried to convince him he had ordered a caramel vanilla shake instead. It was baffling!
When he showed her the receipt confirming his order, the employee took it back with a noticeable attitude. It was no surprise when he requested a full refund, making it clear he didnât want to escalate the situation. Shockingly, the employee told him he couldnât have a refund because he had touched the bag, yet they offered to refund the shake he returned! The logic was completely flawed.
The employee then offered to call her manager, and while I donât know what transpired during that conversation, it was clear they were not willing to resolve the issue. After hanging up, the woman carelessly tossed the phone down in frustration and made a scene by pushing what she ordered on the floor away from the employee after that happened the employee asked her why did she throw it at her. But CLEARLY EVERYONE seen that it wasn't even in her direction. It was absurd to hear her say, âmaâam, please donât throw things at meâ when it was evident the woman hadnât thrown anything at all and it wasnât aimed at her. It was simply just pushed hard onto the floor.
Ultimately, the woman stormed out, visibly upset, while the employee followed her outside, presumably escalating the conflict further. This entire experience was completely unacceptable for any business, especially a new one trying to attract customers. I rate this a 2/5 and I see why the current rating sits at a 3.7â sincerely hope this feedback helps that family get the justice...
