Chill Out Hookah Lounge — Restaurant in State College

I grew up in the area; many years ago I used to frequent the Hookah lounge that previously was established in this space with my friends. Formally known as Chronic Town, I am here to say that Chill Out Hookah Lounge has improved upon quality and service tremendously. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable; the staff were friendly and helpful. They allowed me to smell the different Shisha Tobacco blends before deciding on which one I wanted to smoke. They gave me and my friend free water to sip on as well. Most importantly, the hookah experience was fantastic. The units they have are all very nicely taken care of and of high quality. We purchased ice for our hookah and we got a freeze hose along with it. The staff routinely replaced our coals, brought us a fresh cold hose every so often and we didn’t have to ask. I’ve visited Chillout numerous times, and every experience has been exceptional. The owner takes it upon himself to ensure every visit is top-notch. The range of flavors is vast, almost as wide as the Grand Canyon, and each one is top-quality. One standout for me is the Orange and Mint—imagine orange blossom ice cream (minus the cream) paired with mint fresh from Morocco.

But today, I want to highlight the shawarma sandwich. Having lived in Saudi Arabia, I know a good shawarma when I taste one, and this was nothing short of brilliant. The sandwich featured freshly sliced grilled chicken ,upon enquiring, marinated for two days, straight off the rotisserie. It was served on freshly baked Italian bread, complemented by a mix of tomatoes, onions, and other veggies. The balance of flavors was perfect, and the portion size was generous—equivalent to what I’d consider two average adult servings.

Me and my fiancée were here on vacation, we stopped here and it was such an amazing vibe. The employee was very friendly and offered us the top flavors, let us smell them. It was dead when we went so it was very relaxing. We didn’t get food here, but while we were leaving the employee came over and gave us juice on the house. We loved this place so much we came back again a few hours later to do another session. We tried two new flavors mixed together, which was fantastic might I add.
