Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

The service is all jokes. I was here with my husband and child. It was our first time here and we walked in ecstatically. Little did we know that it will also be our LAST time. We were first in line (with no one waiting behind us). They had two servers and they both started scooping my husband and daughter's frozen custards in cups. I was still patiently waiting for them to get me mines. People began coming in and the servers started ushering us towards the register to keep the line moving. My husband paid for our ice creams and I continued to patiently wait to receive my ice cream. More than half a dozen customers walked in (unrelated parties), were served, and left. I tried to stop the line a couple times by saying, "Excuse me. Sorry, I didn't get my ice cream and we paid. Can I get it now? We have to leave." The server/cashier let me finish and then apathetically replied each time, "We'll be with you in a minute". They proceeded to take OTHER people's orders, scoop ice cream, and then take their payments. I felt completely disregarded and poorly treated. After the line cleared, I finally got my ice cream. At this point, I felt tears well up in my eyes from the bad treatment. What should have tasted delicious, my ice cream did not taste good after the terrible experience. I no longer had the excitement or happiness that my family and I felt when we first stepped in the shop. I can go on forever about how badly this experience made me feel, but just to summarize it - the customer service is horrifyingly terrible. DO NOT come here! Take your money...

Another bad review for this place .my daughter has a gluten allergy one of the few places she can get a gluten free treat .Asked the girl which items are gluten free .she asked the manager if any of the items do contain gluten. He said " just tell her everything has gluten " upon google search showed the Italian ices do not contain gluten. Hopefully im not " berating your staff by asking a another simple question. Questioned why couldn't order cake 2 days out ,never berated staff .sorry about your confusion. Called on Friday to order a family. custard ,Italian ice cake for Sunday. Oh. My. Stars! This place is absolutely amazing! The staff was SO friendly, helpful, and patient while my husband and I figured out what we wanted (it was our first time at a Rita's!) Havanah (I think that was her name...) was so amazing, she was so kind to us and did an excellent job explaining how the dishes work and what and how to order. I got the custard flavor-of-the-week, Campfire Marshmallow, in a sundae with M&M's & cookie dough; it was phenomenal! The custard is so tasty, smooth, and soft; it's like eating a frozen cloud! My husband got the Gelati with either root beer or cola Italian Ice and the Campfire Marshmallow on top; he loved his, too! We will definitely be back as often as we can and will tell friends and family, too!...
