Since Empire Slice has opened here in Stillwater, I have tried it out a few times. The busiest time seemed to be during the weekends and it definitely is a longer wait to get your food. The better times are to go during lunch or the early afternoon and you don't wait that long to get your food.
I am obsessed and in love with their spinach salad. I think it's so good that I would go back just to have the salad and nothing else. That being said, I usually get half of a salad and a slice of pizza. I like that they rotate their specialty pizza slices each day. So different days of the week you're going to have different options of slices available.
I have been able to try most of the slices of pizza. My favorite slices are no sleep till Brooklyn, which tastes like an Italian sub but in the form of a pizza and their pride pie which had roasted beets on it and it actually complemented the pizza really well.
The pizza slices are huge and I think they're well worth the $4.50 per slice. They come on a thin floppy crust, I'm assuming that's a New York style crust. The edge of the crust is crispy and fluffy if you like eating that portion.
So far the service has been good and I have...
Read moreI really just came here to laugh at all these ridiculous reviews. Seriously, if you have a dairy AND meat allergy, you need to make your own food. The rest of you obviously showed up the week this place opened, and somehow thought you'd be the only one there and that all the attention should be on you.
Okay, I guess I'll leave a review. I'm a little biased. I got the tattoo, so, I go here a lot. It's never taken longer than 10 minutes to receive my food after placing the order, to-go or dine-in. It's mostly college kids working here, and besides one in particular who constantly just stares off into the abyss, they are all friendly. Remember, these kids aren't going to school for fine-dining etiquette, this is just their job. The pie here is great. I don't understand why everyone is so picky about food they didn't have to make themselves. It's pizza. Crust, sauce, cheese, toppings. If you like it a certain way, ask for it to be made that way. Melted cheese is melted cheese, cant really make it differently. This isn't some mom and pop pie shop in Sicily. Chain restaurants generally use lower quality ingredients. Don't act...
Read moreUpdate: the last three times we have eaten at Empire have been disappointing. We always order an RBG with vegan cheese. Once they served it with a gluten-free crust, and then remade it. Fine; honest mistake. Then they served it with dairy cheese, and remade it. Most recently I found multiple small pieces of bacon on my vegan pizza. It was confirmed bacon isn’t near the veggie items in the kitchen, so I’m not inclined to think it’s a mistake anymore. If you have a dairy or meat allergy this is sadly not a safe option. The servers are always apologetic for their mistakes, or kitchen mistakes, and discounts are nice, but it would be nicer if we could just get what we order.
Original review: We enjoyed an early dinner with our toddler and were really impressed by the pizza and the service. I’m so happy to finally have a pizza place in town with non-dairy/vegan options! It was a bonus that there are high chairs available, and a baby changing table in the bathroom. The teacher discount is also greatly appreciated! We will...
