I have heard a lot of good things about this place, figured I would try it out myself. Unfortunately, this restaurant was one of the worst dine in experiences I have ever endeavored. Walking in you can smell the musk from years of broth steam soaked into everything, the walls, ceilings ect, its not the most pleasant thing to get you appetized. The table we were sat at was gross, still had leftover broth, utensils and sticky substance all of the place. Nobody had even come over to wipe it down prior to seating us, it even looked like there were fingernail clippings left on the table from the previous customer. When pouring soy sauce on my rice I noticed that 3 fruit flies had made their final resting place in the spout of the container...this was a nice touch. That being said, the menu prices were about double from what was listed online, you can expect to pay about 30$ per person for a meal here without drinks or appetizers. Our service was lousy at best, wait staff were not very friendly, nor did they explain the concept of the restaurant or menu at all. After dropping our drinks and food off they didn't come back to our table until we had to flag them down for the check. When going to a hot pot restaurant like this, its important to feel that the environment your in is clean, sanitary and well kept, due to the fact that they will be serving you raw meat. This place to put in one word is just gross, as soon as I sat down I really just wanted to get the hell out of there. The broths you dip your meat in were, okay... The room temp "prime" ribeye tasted like nasty crock pot roast beef and I was genuinely terrified for my health to cook the beef to anything less then well done. I normally cook all of my beef to medium rare. I was extremely thankful I had only ordered the small portion because anything bigger would've probably made me sick. The vegetables they serve you with dinner were by far the best part, and even then they still screwed it up. Maybe 3 pieces of cabbage, 7 strings of rice noodles, one or two cubes of tofu and a few mushrooms. To summarize, I had a horrible dinner here and wont be returning. My hunch is they are on their way out of business the way this establishment is running. After returning home from dinner I read some other reviews stating that many customers were throwing up from food poisoning and I'm assuming cross contamination. Do your self a favor and take my word for it that you wont be missing out on anything but a disappointing way to...
Read moreMy coworker recommended this restaurant to me with a few warnings - make reservations and order everything we want at the beginning. So, I made reservations for my wife and I. The moment we were seated (about 7:05pm) at the table, we were told by the owner (man with ponytail) that there's a big group coming at 7:30pm and to hurry up. We almost could not believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. We have not even ordered! And this is hot pot where the food are boiling hot and spicy. I guess they weren't kidding - the check came shortly after the food and there were 2 waitresses and the owner checking if we are ready to pay (all within 5 minutes time frame). We had wanted to try the dessert but didn't even get the chance. We were being rushed out for a bigger group that will have bigger bills as if our money is worthless. Well, needless to say, we will NOT be going back there. And just for the owner's information, my wife was going to invite her former co-workers from Stillwater Medical Center after she tried the food. Doubt she will be doing that with the horrible customer service. We will also not be joining my friends and in fact, will be discouraging our friends from going back there. And hope this post will discourage anyone in a smaller group (of less than 10 people) to not even bother going to...
Read moreMy husband and I used to really like this place and make a point to visit every time we come into town, but the last two visits have just been sub-par. Maybe we just caught them on bad nights, but local friends who came with us said that what we experienced was not unusual anymore. Several items on the menu were no longer available. The server (who was very sweet each time she had to tell us what we'd requested wasn't available) explained that this was due to unaffordable off-season prices; which is completely understandable. But I think they need to have an off-season menu to offer other options or at least menus with unavailable food items removed (if those items are not available for an extended time). The Kobe beef and both asian-style teas were unavailable. My salmon, which I had been told I could just eat raw since I don't like cooked fish, arrived frozen and dried out. The assorted vegetables, rice and various sauces were delicious, though! It is a cute restaurant with a neat atmosphere, and Dean and the staff are all extremely friendly every time we visit. Hopefully we'll have a better experience next time, but until then, I probably wouldn't recommend this...
