I very much enjoyed my time with lazy dog on this guided tour. I learned so much about the ecology of the mangroves from Colly (sp?). He was passionate about nature and he was very responsive to our questions. We didnât see manatees but knew that was a possibility. It was still worth it. I wanted to add some photos for body representation. My partner and I are in mid size to larger bodies, and were both formerly more athletic than we are now, so feel very aware of that. We were both concerned about being able to be in the kayak and participate well. It was an absolute non issue. You do need some stamina and endurance, but if you use the technique youâre instructed to do, you will work efficiently. I will say we both have experience boating but the instructions we were provided were great. The pace was not intimidating at any point for us. I also would have felt comfortable asking about what they do with folks with larger bodies based on their whole vibe. So just some advice that before you say you wonât do it because of how you feel in your body and how the world isnât very inclusive when you are larger, reach out and talk to them. You shouldnât miss this because of that. And if you have never done something like this before but you like to learn about nature, it might at times make you break a sweat, but you will see a world you never have before.
Also the restaurant next door has an impossible burger for vegetarians. They give you a coupon at the end...
Read moreThis was exceptional and a five star âââââ experience! We did a two hour Lazy Dog eco tour with Leah. I went into this thinking it would be a two hour kayak. It was so much more in depth & enjoyable than I had anticipated. Leah was an amazing tour guide and left us with so much information we ended up talking about it for days afterwards. She was an exceptional guide, with an immense amount of knowledge of local ecosystems, biology, nature and pretty much anything that can up. We peppered her with questions, and Leah had answers. Learned so much, and very appreciated. This operation was run smoothly, and professionally with a good safety briefing, and instruction for anyone (even those who haven't kayaked before). We were experienced kayakers, but many weren't & had absolutely no issues at all.
This was probably the highlight for our Key West trip đđ
Everyone's experience will clearly be different due to environmental conditions, weather etc - however we saw & were able to touch and interact with many different creatures and animals including a nurse shark! Say what! I know, crazy.
Lots of fun. Ask for Leah.

Read moreMy wife and I went on a two hour Kayak excursion with one of the two Heathers leading our group. The trip started out by being warmly welcomed, and oriented to the surroundings of bathrooms, water, and the opportunity to leave anything we didn't want to get wet at the kiosk where it would be safeguarded. Once it was time to start the tour, Heather gave us our safety briefing, and the option for single or double kayaks. She explained the route we would be taking and all safety concerns. Once we were all on the water and situated, Heather took us out along our route that included the boating channel and through mangrove thickets into secluded areas of water. There she found local wildlife such as jellyfish and lettuce slugs that she put into a bowl for all of us to observe before she put them back into the water. Heather was extremely knowledgeable about the area, the wildlife and plant life that we saw along the way. She was extremely pleasant and friendly with everyone in the group and we had a fantastic time on our tour. I would highly recommend this tour and the next time we are in Key West, we will be doing...
