This is my first time writing out a review. I very much felt the need to leave this review cause of the quality of service and the food I received. I once very much enjoyed this place. I drive almost an hour to Mystic, and visit the village. Most of the time Mangos is where we go to eat. I ordered a Margherita pizza. The pizza arrived and it was just a plain cheese pizza with raw basil leaves on top. I thought my order was wrong, as I’ve never seen Margherita pizza served this way, with no mozzarella. This is not margherita with just basil leaves on regular cheese. Brought it to the waitress attention and she claims, this is how they have always done the pizza she says, I informed her I’ve been coming to Mangos for at least 8 years consistently and every time I order the margherita it has never came like this. She continued to tell me no, it was never made any other way this is how it’s always been made. She seemed like she was new on top of it, cause I’ve never seen her any other time. I even pulled up pictures on my phone with images of the Margherita with mozzarella like how it has been prepared in the past. She continues to deny that they ever made it that way, when I’m showing her images of the pizza with mozzarella from Mangos on the internet.. Come to find out from reading other reviews on the margherita pizza, the way it’s prepared had recently been changed to be made this way, so the waitress was indeed wrong. She told me she will get the manager to speak with us. She returned telling us she spoke with the owner and that’s the way it’s stated on the menu, and the manager was busy and couldn’t come to our table. After our complaint was made the waitress stopped coming by our table to check if we needed anything, (refills/napkins) which we did and tended to the tables around us multiple times up until the end when she brought us the check. We ended up boxing the entire margherita as we didnt touch not even a slice. The fact the owner or manager couldn’t even address our displeasure with our meal, and couldn’t take the time to even come to the table and speak with us shows a lot about the restaurant. I will not be returning and patronizing this establishment ever again. They lost me as a customer the way the situation was handled and the service I received from the waitress and management. I don’t know how anyone in management couldn’t of just addressed the fact the way it was made was changed and that was that. Not insist it’s always been that way, and state it’s written that way on menu. Also, the bacon pizza we got did not taste anything like what it once was, Cooks may have very...
Read moreThe pizza was very good. Absolutely no complaints there. As for Literally everything else, It was one of the worst dine in experiences I've had.
Firstly, our waitress was either high as a kite, or a little slow. She forgot about us multiple times. Quite literally only came over to give us the food we ordered. With empty drinks for a good portion of the meal. She could be clearly seen on her phone behind the counter. It was busy in there but it was evident she was not. Any interactions we had with here were extremely short and rude. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there, or that she even wanted to be our server at that moment. Any and every question was met with an annoyed one word answer.
Second, we ordered two appetizers. But I'll focus on the nachos, considering you're paying almost $1.25 per chip. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork on them which brings the total for the dish to a little over $20. Believe me when I say there was no more than 20 chips on the whole plate. And the meat was close to non-existent. I'm no stranger to decently prices apps, for instance the trashcan nachos from Guy Fieri's in foxwoods. Those are also a little over $20. But for that you get a very large portion, easy to split between 4 people. Loaded with toppings. Keep in mind, that restaurant is in foxwoods. So that nullifies the argument that its the area that causes the poor price for quality.
Lastly, I would like to mention the taste of the food was very good, even the nachos TASTED alright. And the pizza was hands down some of my favorite that I've had in eastern CT. That being said I absolutely could not recommend sitting down and dining in to anyone. Even if you were to just get pizza, you're probably still going to be met with some of the worst service you've ever had in a supposedly "nice" restaracunt. Its like they...
Read moreJust came here per a recommendation from a Mystic Employee with my husband and 5 month old daughter. We were told we were not allowed to bring a stroller into the restaurant with no explanation. The hostess was rude but later come to find out doesn't speak English very well (totally fine!) I tried to explain in the moment that I didn't understand why we couldn't bring a stroller in, is there a reason, a policy? Our waitress blonde hair a little bit bigger immediately told me to take a deep breath and then proceeded to dismiss the conversation and say that it was going to be unproductive. Whether educated or not, listen to your customers, be able to explain your policy and apologize that we had a negative experience. I spoke to another employee and she at least listened even though her face looked like she was rolling my her eyes at me but she tried to accommodate and explain the situation. I'm bummed we missed out on the pizza but the way we were treated from the minute we walked in.. I'm not asking much or saying we are royalty but be kind to people that are coming here. Also not to mention I am five months postpartum and for this young girl to tell me to take a deep breath. Are you a licensed therapist? Beyond in appropriate. I have no words. I have never experienced that. They said she is a manager for a reason but it doesn't take much to listen, explain your policy and say.. I'm so sorry you had that experience, let's turn it around. There were so many other ways that the situation could have been handled.
Edited: just looked over other reviews.. the responses from he “owner” are horrible.. YIKES.. glad we didn’t waste our time, money or energy on this...
