My man is still new to CT, so when he was inquiring about Spanish food spots, Cibus Dos was mentioned. During an attempt to reserve a table for Valentine's Day, that matched our availability, this spot was secured. We came 15 minutes early for our 9pm reservation and got seated immediately. We patiently waited for our waiter that never came. When the hostess came back about 20 min to sit a couple next to us, we asked when will they take our our order, about 8 minutes later a confused young boy came and took it. I'll say our starters of ceviche and steak tostones came quick, but then we had to wait another 5 minutes for some one to get us utensils. The drinks or sparking water we ordered still hadn't came yet and a lady tried giving us tap. We had to explain ourselves to her. The manager came to our table to apologize about a miscommunication between the hostess and waiter; I understand it's Valentine's Day, so I wasn't going to be the customer from hell, but cmon, get it together. When the entree came the server tried giving it to two other tables before learning it was ours. I got the churrasco medium but it felt more on the well side, maybe because the cut was a bit flimsy. The chimichurri sauce I requested never came, so I had to ask for it again. By the time we were done eating, we had already been there for 1.5hrs, we usually get 2 alcoholic drinks, my man wanted to try the chocolate martini; we usually get dessert; I was telling him the flan an churros were good here; after all the time lapsed, we skipped our usual 2nd drink and dessert, we just wanted the bill and wanted to go home. He really liked the food, said it was fresh, but serviced lacked so much, he rather not come back here.. he liked it so much better at Ola...
Read moreWe were visiting the city and happened to see this restaurant and decided to come in for a drink while we waited for the next train to NYC.
They have great outdoor seating. The inside decor is pleasant and with a simplicity that makes you feel a peace or simply at home with a friend.
They had TVs playing videos of Hispanic/latin music and that completed the ambiance. Owen era are from Ecuador but they bring a great fusion menu. I liked the place so much that we decided to drive the 75 miles again to visit the place with other friends and try more food.
I love that their wine list included wines from Argentina and Spain. Great selections. We picked Argentinian Malbec and it didn't disappoint. We had a nice cold Stella and Modelo Draft.
We were not planning on eating but couldn't resist to Oder the Guacamole with homemade plantain chips and homemade Tortillas. These were exceptionally delicious.
We also tried the Mofonguito Trio. One with ropa vieja; shrimp and pork. Drizzled with a homemade cilantro dressing. We also tried an empanada and was filled completely and tasty.
We sat at the bar and Alex was extremely attentive. Noticed I put my purse on the bar and immediately provided me a purse hanger. He was nice to answer all of our questions and was attentive to all our needs. He confirmed they have JAZZ nights every Thursday.
So come try this place. It won't disappoint and I can't wait to try...
Read moreI made a reservation for 2 for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. Arrived right on time for the reservation and we were seated right away. 25 minutes later and no one had even come by to fill our water. We saw the host go up to one of the waitstaff, point, and make eye contact with us during this time after we had been looking around confused at the lack of service. I then had to go up to the host and let them know that it had been nearly half an hour and no one had even spoken to us. After this, the host spoke to a member of the waitstaff, who then went to another member of the waitstaff, asking them in Spanish to “just handle table 16”. The restaurant was active but not packed so it seemed odd that with 4 waitstaff, a host, and several bus people that service would be so slow for such a small restaurant. We then ordered our meal and proceeded to wait around more while the appetizers came out at varying times and temperatures. Finally the entrees came and one was actually hot while the steak, rice and fries were stone cold. From the small amount of hot food I was able to gather it actually tasted good (hence the 2nd star), but given the service, I cannot see myself coming back, or recommending this place to someone. We were there for over 2 hours and really wish we picked somewhere else to...
