Not good sushi⦠itās hard to imagine where the reviewers who say this is on par with the best sushi have eaten sushi. I read those and was excited, having eaten amazing sushi at expensive places and really good sushi at mid-priced places, and bad sushi a few times, generally at much cheaper places than this (so they were acceptably bad). This is worst Iāve had, and not acceptably so. First impression is where I shouldāve left it⦠the ginger is heavily sweetened. Like grocery store sushi; the ginger generally has high fructose corn syrup in it. This was the most over sweetened ginger Iāve had, and the first time I didnāt eat sushi ginger in my life. Then we got oysters. Instead of being served in a brine with a side of fixings, they were served soaked in what tasted like eel sauce or oyster sauce. Like straight up black salty sauce from a jar. It was so salty and gross we couldnāt eat them without rinsing them off with water from our water glasses first. First time I havenāt finished oysters in my life. Then we got a rainbow roll to try the raw fish, and a couple special rolls. Never before have I seen the full sticks of unshredded imitation crab sticks rolled up in a sushi roll - the same imitation crab sticks I got from Walmart and ate like string cheese as a kid. Way overpowering, and should never be a stick in the roll. Every fish was soft, smushy, an unnatural color, and every bite made me worried Iād get sick that night. The special rolls were worse. Both were so heavily soaked in what I think was eel sauce that not only were they too salty to dip in soy sauce, they were actually too salty to eat. First time in my life I didnāt either finish sushi or want to bring it home. We left a full roll there uneaten and the waitress seemed ok with that⦠didnāt check why. We donāt get sick, but thatās the best thing I have to say about this place; I left feeling sad and craving real sushi, but my girlfriend said it ruined sushi for her for the night. I have no idea how what those good reviews are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place for sushi and small eats! We came on a Friday around 4 pm and enjoyed quite a few items from their happy hour menu as well as the regular menu. There's plenty of parking and available tables at the time. Service was timely and courteous.
We enjoyed the 16 piece chef choice sashimi. All great quality. The Hokkaido scallops were on the happy hour menu and very fresh. I have paid more for Hokkaido scallops in Vegas that have tasted not good so I'm glad I found a place with good quality sushi grade scallops. I very much enjoyed the Kumamoto oysters as well and they're 25% off during happy hour ($3 each instead of $4). The takoyaki and baked mussels were made to order and delicious! The beef tongue skewer was good but didn't blow me away. Unfortunately, the warabimochi with ice cream is not worth it. The mochi tasted old. I appreciate the effort to warm it up and try to get it more edible but the texture is not there.
I look forward to trying more items on the menu like the sushi rolls and other entrees....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy kids and I love trying new places. We love sushi and thought this place would be great. The waitress barely spoke English and I couldnāt read the menu. Some had descriptions, most didnāt. And it was pointless asking for help. Even American restaurants will help guide you through their menus, especially if youāve never been there before. I showed up with me and my four kids, guide me! Ask us questions, we were ready to spend money and eat! I ordered what I could read, miso soup, salad and 3 sushi rolls and we left hungry. I get it, this place is definitely more authentic than other āamericanizedā places. But jeeze, teach us your ways. The place had two customers inside and I was one. Take the time to make your customers feel welcome and they will come back ten fold. I would have invited my whole family and told all my friends. Hopefully they read this and do better for the next newbie that comes in! Food was great btw. Wish I could...
