We came for Saturday lunch; there was not another customer in the restaurant. We had to argue with the woman for the table by the window. She wanted to seat us in the middle of the restaurant which was fairly close to the large round table in back occupied by the owner's family and children. As I said there was not another customer in sight - why go out of your way to make customers feel so unwelcome?
We were not offered water, no bread for the table. Immediately after sitting down, the owner demands that we order appetizer and dessert and not ‘just two entrees’. He insisted that even though the Groupon doesn't say, this is a requirement and it is part of the deal. We felt our entrees were very average/mediocre and not special (2 lunch entrees were billed $38!). We were there around 1pm for lunch but he gave us the dinner menu! Supposedly the lunch menu was available until 230pm and we were done by 220pm! I felt like we were being treated like ‘dumb American tourists and easy marks!
Both entrees came with a grilled half-tomato, a small chunk of onion (about 1/5 of a medium onion) and plain, greasy rice - no sauce. We ordered Cornish hen – what we got was clearly not a Cornish hen but chicken. The filet mignon slices looked gray and tasted pre-cooked; we ordered rare but of course the filet could not be rare since it likely was not freshly prepared. Yep, the creeps even 'cheated' us on the food!
When we chose not to order anything else after the entrees, the owner literally complained TWO TIMES that he will only get $10 from Groupon and then that he will only make $4. To add insult to injury he tacks on an 18% gratuity - the check plainly states 'included gratuity 18% added to parties of 5 or more guests'. The service was TERRIBLE and a complete EMBARASSMENT!
The meal was not even worth the price paid with the Groupon! These people do not know the meaning of service; to say this restaurant is mediocre would be an understatement. The staff is aggressive and unwelcoming and the owner takes very opportunity to rip-off the customer. This place SHOULD NOT be in business - it strikes out on food, service, pricing and for every other reason people go out to eat!
It astounds me that there is a ZAGAT sign; that was not the experience we and many, many others had. ...
Read moreHorrible food. After few bites, I abandoned having anymore because I was scared to fall sick. I ordered shrimp and scallop and my daughter ordered salmon kabob. The salmon kabob had bones and the shrimp and scallops were cold (clearly reheated and hence not uniform). When pointed out to the server, they said they get fillets of salmon and sometimes they may have bones. What! Is this why I am paying about $30. It was clear that the tiny shrimp and scallop was reheated because they were rubbery, the server said they freeze after marination and cook fresh. I cook often at home and know that salmon fillets often have bones and need to be carefully picked out and shrimp becomes rubbery when reheated. Why would I pay approx. $30 per dish for such bad quality. Never again to this place.
Was stunned with their answers and how they handled my feedback. They asked if there is anything they can make for us to take home due to the bad experience. Why would someone take home more of such bad food? I wasn’t expecting a credit but found hard to take...
Read moreAn honest review- The owner/server wasn't very inviting and it felt like we were bothering him. The zaytoon parvardeh was very good (but we had to request the bread for it which is usually provided at every other persian restaurant- its like someone giving you hummus with no bread), but our individual entrees which were roughly 20 each were really really not worth it. It felt like the kind of meal I would pay 11 or so dollars for. Also, the pitcher of homemade doogh (yogurt drink) was good. In the end, the owner made us pay an 18% gratuity which should be for 5 or more in a party and there were only two of us which I felt was unfair as we should be able to decide for ourselves how much tip was appropriate. I was very surprised with the non hospitable nature and the average quality of the food especially since this restaurant is...
