Update: on a very recent visit, we were left wondering if we'll return in the future. This one of our favorite places (see review below). But the recent changes have not been for the better. Their homemade tortillas used to be a real differentiator but they have changed them to the generic flour tortillas (think Mission tortillas that you get at the grocery store). This change was never communicated and came as a surprise when I opened my quesadilla box at home. When I called them to ask about it, they simply defended the change but saying that these make it easier for rolling burritos and that they are no longer making the other ones. But, their chips are still made from those tortillas so I find that hard to believe. They should keep the option to order the thin, multigrain homemade tortillas on the menu. Also, their price hikes for the quesadillas is a bit much. They used to have a veggie quesadilla on the menu (with rice and beans). They then downgraded it to just a veggie quesadilla with no rice and beans for the same price. Now, they only have a classic quesadilla with just cheese and veggies, rice and beans are all an additional cost. It's kind of silly to have a veggie quesadilla with rice and beans (pretty much a flat version of their burrito) cost nearly $4-$5 more than it's burrito counterpart. I hope they go back to their old operating model as their cost cutting measures are not keeping up with their brand.
Review from a year ago: We really like this place! The food is always fresh and tasty. The salsa bar is always stocked and I love that it is self-serve so you can get as much as you need. The pico and hot are our favorites. Their tortilla is the best. Light and thin, so that it gets crispy when heated and never feels too bready when eating a burrito. They have a vegetarian, fully loaded quesadilla on the menu which no longer seems to be there. Now, we have to recreate it every time we are there. Most of the time, when it's one of the guys taking our order, in-person or on the phone, they fully get it. But every time it's one of the women, they always seem rather confused or end up charging us extra for adding rice and beans to a veggie quesadilla. The inconsistency seems a bit ridiculous for a staple that we love so much. Tito's,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTito's burritos is simply AWESOME! I haven't had much of their menu because I love the steak burrito so much. The place looks like it should - a little hole-in-the-wall, but with great ambiance and style. The staff are millennials, but without the attitude and bored looks. When I go, the place is always busy, not out-the-door crowded, but it has a definite steady customer flow. Whomever I have talked to has great things to say about the place. The food is not expensive, which is sursuprising for Summit, as most places are overpriced and lower quality than Tito's. I just hope that they don't lose the vibe and go corporate, that would be a shame. Hang ten dudes and stop here for some excellent grub. I do want to say that about a year ago I had the buffalo wings and was really disappointed. It was just wings and hot sauce and cooked to long to where it turned the meat hard and crunchy. I'm willing to give that another go soon just to see if maybe it was just a 1 time thing. Summit Summer 2018!!
UPDATE 11/30/18: Since my last post I have eaten here about once a week or so on average - and things are most defintely better. My previous critique of the wings is now a non-issue as they have done a great job since I last tried the wings. They are plump, juicy and oh-so good. They are not like other places around that just nuke some premade small, fatty wings. These are cooked properly, with a slight delicious crunch to the skin of the wings, with juicy meat inside to make your tastebuds say "Kowabunga!!". Ive eaten the wings multiple times and each time a different sauce flavor to test my palate. I also enjoy the 'Spicoli' burrito which is an excellent comfort food and tantalizes my mouth with full and hearty taste sensations. I wish I had my youthful metabolism back, lol ,as I would eat here every day if I could. This place is a 'dont miss it' landmark which will have you craving it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI keep going back. High school kids and younger love it and it is a go to place for parents with young children. Vegetarian food is great but their other options are quite good. I love it that they combine a soft and hard toco for a real nice texture and taste. Not crazy about the high chairs but understand it is a small place and it works best for them. Wish the three tables by the entrance were normal height tables for us short older people! Great service even though they don't have to they often bring the food out to you instead of you getting up to go to the counter. I have been going there for about 10 years and the managers and the kids they hire are outstanding. I have never met a kid that had a negative attitude.
Home made chips! The best! When my nephews from Santa Cruz visit they love going to Tito's. And those kids know good...
