Eat More Pho — Restaurant in Sunnyvale

I’m already missing the House of Pho. The new restaurant is unfortunately not even close to the original restaurant. They downsized the menu overall, prices increased and most importantly the food is not good. I used to get Pho Tai Nam all the time at Hose of Pho, that is now nonexistent in this new place. The broth was so disappointing. It was weak in flavor and I think they added either sugar or msg into the broth, because it ends with a subtle sweetness. A pho broth should be beefy and rich. Worst of it all, the rare steak slices came cooked. Not cooked in broth, mind you; but like pre-boiled in regular water. Also the meat wasn’t fresh… like one to two more days in the fridge and it’d be tossed away. At least my bowl smelled okay, but my ma’s bowl was smelling funkay! Never going back, I guess I gotta hunt a new...

Got seated and served quickly. This isn’t another petty customer service review.

Ordered the pho with short rib and egg coffee which they didn’t have. I guess eggs really are for the elite nowadays, uncharacteristically ordered strawberry smoothie instead since there’s no sugar cane option.

Pho broth and noodles are as they should have been. If this was middle America with population of 500 people / mile i would have it everyday. Here it’s mid at best.

The rib though. Forget falling off the bone, gnawing off wasn’t even an option. I had to use a steak knife to force the sinew into shape. I didn’t realize I had signed up for jaw training when I walked in those doors.

The wait time is ridiculous. It was not busy at all, only one other table and mine which included only 2 people. It took forever for them to take my order and even longer for the food to come out.

Really upset house of pho has left Sunnyvale. Not only did this place raise all the prices, but the pho no longer taste the same. What a disappointment. It took years to find a good pho place in Sunnyvale and now it’s gone.

They have a button you can press to get the servers attention, I used it and they never came to my table. I miss the old servers that were fast...
