Tried their food recently at a garba event in Krishnadham Mandir where they were called in for catering.
Ordered samosa chaat, Shahi paneer plate, spring roll, pani puri.
Samosa chaat was $11 but it had only 2 spoonful of food quantity. It felt more like a kids meal.
Shahi paneer plate was $13 which came full of rice and very little curry which tasted bland no flavor no spice.
Spring roll was $6 for which we got 2 rolls and it wasn’t that bad but nothing exceptional either.
Panipuri was $9 and it was the worst pani puri I have ever had. It was filled with very little masala (potato filling) and lots of raw onions.
All the above prices are including taxes and yet we didn’t even get any receipts for the food we ordered.
On top of this the food was icy cold as it was being served outdoors and wasn’t kept in heated serving containers. When I complained about this they were like we started serving free hours ago and you are late so food is cold but it wasn’t like they were serving some free food. You didn’t even charge a penny less on your extemely cold food and yet dare to justify the food you are serving. Extremely unprofessional and uncivilised employees looting the customers. I doubt they ever learnt in their life what quality is. Never seen Sikh people doing such a bad job before.
Overall a very horrible experience. Waste of money even after ending up paying $40 for 2 people. Still felt hungry after that but got so fed up we ended up not buying lassi or anything else. No one beats Chaat Bhavan when it comes to quality catering of North Indian food. They were called in for all 6 days of the garba event. Glad I didn’t spend money on them for rest...
Read moreGood place to grab late night Indian Panjabi style food from this Food Truck. Very courteous and professional staff. Food is delicious. Some dishes can be hot-spicy for those who have not tried spicy Indian food, but always check with them when you order. There are a few tables under canopy next to the truck, if you want to eat there. I've tried out their Tandoori Chicken take out, and it was perfectly cooked-- still juicy inside. Lost a star only because the grilled onions, bell peppers accompaniment was a bit watery in our take out dish. It is possible that during the take out, the cooked vegetables lost their moisture in the container. Will definitely try out their traditional Indian Panjabi dishes and then update...
Read moreOrdered the pani puri, achari chicken tikka, and two masala chais for about $30. Pani puri were small, barely filled, and the chutney was very watery. Chicken tikka was cooked fine but with a lot of butter. Chais were also watery. We found it disappointing compared to the many other food trucks and options in the same area. We were the only people there but it still took a while and they were dismissive when we asked for the chai after 20 minutes.
Overall, we expected something better given the ratings but it's possible it simply doesn't match the flavor profile...
