During our travels, we decided to stop in at Newks because we have always had great service and the food has always been great, too. However, this stop off for a bite to eat was not satisfactory. I knew I couldn't eat a full meal and we chose to share a large pairing: ordering a Mediterranean pizza with a half salmon Caesar salad, emphasizing a food allergy and requesting no croutons.
The order came out and the primary focus was that croutons were in the salad. Therefore, it was requested to have the salad remade. After the salad was removed from the table, it was realized that the pizza delivered to the table was a Margherita pizza. I chose to bring the pizza inside to request the pizza that was originally ordered. Upon approaching the food line, the person making the salad took the salmon from the original dish and plopped (yes, i said plopped) it into the new bowl. As though, remaking the salad was an inconvenience. Meanwhile, the girl that took the order, the server, and the girl mixing the salad crouched down closer to the counter and looked out where i to find me standing there watching them. A long pause from them all before the server then came around the food line and approached me and asked if it was ok that the same piece of salmon was added to the bowl or if they had to remake that too. In all actuality, NO it was not ok! I said FOOD ALLERGY and requested NO croutons! I took the new salad and fed the salmon to my dog. Despite attempting to make corrections made to the order, the attitude involved in remaking the order was rediculous.

Read moreWent around lunch time on a Friday. Yes, it was busy so I understand they were a little backed up. There were also to go orders, so I concede that.
However, there were 8-10 people in the kitchen. All I ordered was a bowl of soup to go. It took them almost 30 minutes to get to my order. Which only had to be ladled into a to go cup. A staff member all but chastised me for standing in the restaurant waiting for my egregiously delayed food.
By the time I got the soup, which was saltier than a bitter individual after a divorce, it was barely even hot. Moreover, it was completely lacking in the garnish and croutons.
I can't even imagine how long I would've waited if I wanted something actually cooked, rather than some pre-prepared soup.
I'm sure anyone who has worked in food service would agree that if a ticket pops up and it is something that can be popped out in a matter of seconds, it's probably worth shoving that out. Didn't help that half the kitchen staff was continuously checking their phones, texting, dancing bordering on twerking, or otherwise shirking their responsibility.
I'm unlikely to return, especially with Panera across the street. Do...
Read moreAll restaurants and food establishments are bound to mess up every once in a while. After all, we are human. I get it. However, the right thing to do is to apologize. Good customer service, or even decent customer service recognizes mistakes and does right by the customer. Recently, I ordered at Newks. They made a mistake, forgot something, gave me a half order of something else. Not a big deal. And I honestly would have let it go if it had not been important in feeding my family. But, I had to call and bring the mistakes to their attention. And, unfortunately, there was no apology, no offer to make the missing food. After an extremely long pause over the phone, the person who answered the phone asked me "what would you like me to do about it" in a less than apologetic tone. I just wanted the food I ordered. I came back in. And again, no apology when I explained for a second time. I was in food service for a long time and have been in customer service even longer. This is horrendous customer service. No one was nasty, possibly rude, but no one cared. I'm sorry...
