We honestly use to love coming here; although some not all, of the wait staff seems to have a chip on their shoulders. This review is not about food. Let’s talk about customer service skills. First and for most if a restaurant patron chooses another place to sit rather then the one you suggested, smile and say, “absolutely, no problem”. (working for that tip, keeping customers happy, they possibly will return, may even ask for you by name the next time they come in, means a great reputation for you as a waiter) Next get the drinks ordered and bring the water. Don’t walk away and come back 10 to 15 mins later to ask for drinks. Treat all patrons equally. Loss that stereotypical mentally that minority’s don’t tip. Guess what you’re minority’s too. How would you feel if you entered into a minority owned and operated establishment, and was treated like second class citizens? 🤔 Let me explain why I say this. As my Latino family of five, happily wait to be asked about drinks “at our favorite locally owned Mexican restaurant” we begin to notice how we are being over seen by other patrons that are just coming in. Oops, maybe that was just that one time,, oops maybe not. While we sit and wait we also notice the wait staff “more than one or two” just huddled in a circle talking. 🤔Still no water, still no drinks ordered. Guess what, now my husband, who has dedicated over 15 years of his professional career catering to the public, can’t hold it in anymore. So of course he looks like the obnoxious patron who now is upset over the poor service and lack of proper management. If this restaurant was being probably managed, you wouldn’t be able to hear the conversation in the kitchen, nor would there be wait staff just huddled in a corner talking and laughing. What would have been happily paying customers, are now annoyed and upset because their once favorite Mexican restaurant has completely disregarded the family of five, who was waiting for a smile and some drinks. Guess what, not only have you lost this family as customers but also the recommendations that comes with great service. Tallahassee is a small city and as business owners, we know the importance in community. Not just your stereotypical high tippers, but all of Tallahassee community members.(All) We always try to support locally owned businesses, especially when their...
Read moreWhere do I start,The first time I came to peppers I liked that it was an Hispanic based restaurant with authentic Mexican food , I’ve been here a couple times with me and my wife to have a couple drink and to enjoy the atmosphere, which was okayy and the food was pretty good.
One day out the week I decided to bring my family here to enjoy some quality time with them an to enjoy some authentic Mexican food, but what I have experience today was pure ignorance,I’m an Hispanic business owner who Recently moved here from Philadelphia I’m a supporter of Latin owned businesses, and understand how a businesses Should be ran an understand the way costumers should be treated regardless of any ethnicity, race or religion, so with that being said let me let youknow how my experience here was at peppers.
I Was Never greeted or acknowledged and had to flag down the waitress just to be seated and given a menu to wait 10 minutes just to be given chips and salsa on top of that I had to wait an additional 25 minutes and still had to flag down a waitress again to ask for what I would like to drink and keep in mind the restaurant was half empty with plenty of waiters and waitresses trying to look busy, an they only acknowledged the people who they thought would tip them good, it’s sad to know that racially profiling can happen with your same race, it’s sad but it’s true that’s just the world that we live in but at the end of the day that waitress still got a tip.
P.S-I will never...
Read moreWow, I wish this place was about a thousand miles closer to my house. Each person in our family ordered something different, and we got to try a lot of different things. Everything was amazingly delicious!
The chips and salsa were very fresh and tasty. The taco salads tasted great as well. The chimichangas weren't exactly what I was expecting, but that does not diminish how good they were.
They do have a much hotter hot sauce available, which I didn't think tasted as good as the regular salsa but was still pretty hot. For heat reference, it was significantly hotter than pureed jalapenos but less than pureed habaneros. I prefer the taste of Carolina Reaper or habanero based salsas, but their hot sauce did offer a good bit of kick. They all have a much brighter taste which I prefer. If you are not a spice person, don't worry. This is a sauce you have to request specifically and the regular sauces are much less potent.
The servers fast, friendly, and attentive. I really like the atmosphere of the place. There's a lot of room comment and it's very easy to visit with your friends in this place while you share a great meal together.
Highly recommend this place if you like Mexican or Tex-Mex! We would love to visit...
