DO NOT USE FOR CATERING! Unfortunately I will have to give this black business a one star. Before getting into the NEGATIVES I would like to say that I used to go here sometimes to eat or maybe even order it on DoorDash while I’m at work. The items that I liked was the chicken Rasta pasta and the patties.
My experience with the owner at a catering event for my graduation has been really POOR. My mom expressed her opinion to Sam the owner and it turns out the conversation went left. Sam was LATE to the catering event and didn’t respond to my roommates text message until the DAY of. Mind you we were sitting at graduation a COUPLE hours before he was supposed to bring the food. I did not think he was coming. Nonetheless Sam prepared chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits for our catering event.
Since this was a split event with two parties, one party was OK with the food and the other party HATED it. The chicken he served was not fried chicken wings like he has displayed on his Instagram page instead the chicken had no batter and looked red inside and was also a breast and not a wing. Sam also LIED about not knowing there was two parties to my mother. The reason I know this is because I seen him at potbellies at brunch and he asked me and my roommate separately how we felt about the food. Also when he dropped the food off I mentioned sending him an extra tip and his contact info. (Which I did not send base off of food taste and poor service) When same asked me about the food at brunch at the garden (potbellies) I did not go into great detail about it because I was at a different event and that was not the time and place. But I did specify the chicken issue. My mother did ask for a portion of her money back since he served us something that he doesn’t promote. Although Sam may have not wanted to do that there’s a certain way you handle things with your customers. Unfortunately he hasn’t learned that yet but hopefully one day he will and I will not let this experience dim the light of other black businesses.
Although the waffles were BLAND and the chicken was POOR and I would’ve prefer the grits to taste a little better that’s not the main issue for me. My main issue is Sams POOR SERVICE and how he speaks to his customers. Would not recommend for catering and it’s unfortunate I can no longer support due to his disrespect.
Edited after response from store: Sam how would I know you even offer naked fried chicken if you only promote bartered chicken and waffles and don’t have an option on the catering menu? Also why would I make a separate invoice to have the same food at the same time delivered to the same location? I would have appreciated if the poor customer service was acknowledged. And yes like I stated the other party was content with the food but also the opinion of the other party raises a question since business was mixed with pleasure and you showed interest in my roommate at clubs prior and buying her drinks. Read moreI previously gave them a 5 star, but have to go back on that due to how bad the customer service can be here, the foods still great, I can’t take that away from them at all, but this is one that I can’t support, while they have such lazy customer service.
This restaurant has a schedule listed on their door, but they rarely abide by it. Due to their very convenient location, and having some nice people working there I tried giving them different chances, there’s been 3 occasions when I got out of class, which is a hour before they close, and they were already closed despite their listed times.
Whenever they do an event, they’ll shut down the store, and sometimes won’t even putting a sign on the door, they have social media on different platforms but they don’t bother taking the 2-3 minutes to make a post informing customers that they won’t be open. Another thing that I didn’t like about them is that when they did bother posting a sign saying that they would be a the FSU football fan, they didn’t bother mentioning that it would be a limited menu, so I drove there, and tried to purchase food for nothing.
During seasonal breaks, when school FSU & FAMU, isn’t in session they also close down, and again even though it’ll be for prolonged periods the owner doesn’t bother updating when the customers on their social media, and he also didn’t open the date that they had listed on their door.
The final issue I had with them was when I put in a order around 6:40PM, and despite it having a estimated finish time of 6:59PM, I got there around 7:20 to play it safe since I know they can get busy, when I got there I was informed that they apparently just received the order I put in, and that they ran out of it. I was also told that they couldn’t refund me, I would have to cancel the order myself through the online system that they choose to use. Where there’s no apparent way to cancel it. I ended up having to email the company who they go through, and they were very polite and informative.
My main issue was that they didn’t seem willing to just refund cash, or even attempt to substitute the item, or just have any customer service to make it right, I get that they were busy, but that was 40 minutes I could’ve been elsewhere if they were unable to fulfill the order. And I was also informed by the company who they choose to use to put orders in, that they indeed do have the ability to cancel and refund orders, as well as to update the wait times on the food if they’re super backed up, if the employees really don’t know how to do that, that still just points to bad management.
I also recommend that if you’re in a rush, to ask if you can pay when you get the food, they often give a small wait time, but it turns out being 20-30...
Read moreBy far the best restaurant in Tallahassee I’m a very hard customer to deal with I expect fresh food not only fresh but clean i don’t like to see sign of a dirty grill or cooking space and I’m big on customer service when I called they picked up answered every question as it was my first time they were very patient and respectful I ended up calling back at least two more times with questions she didn’t loose patience I first walked in I was greeted within 2 minutes the place was very clean I looked around and peeped through the curtain they had covering the kitchen all that I could see from the counter it seemed spotless the wait time was about 30 min which is expected for fresh gourmet food in this area so once I got my order to the car the accuracy of each chicken wing was spot on all Crispy golden fried the presentation was amazing one flavor on bottom the other flavor on top 12 perfectly stacked wings cooked 100% through then as I look at my pasta it was breathtaking creamy the shrimp looked fresh clean no grill marks 100% gourmet the food tasted even better than it looked I recommend the pasta for anyones first time u can’t go wrong with it… this place is 5 stars the price is definitely worth it whoever the chef is definitely has his...
