I am surprised by these good reviews. I cooked in a professional scratch kitchen for 7 years so I’m aware of quality food. I have had some amazing experiences at food trucks, but this is by far the worst I’ve ever had. I feel like people need to know that this place isn’t that great. We got the burger, patacones, chicken and beef empanadas, and tequenos.
The patacones sandwich was very strange with odd, low quality ingredients. Chicken was dry and bland, eggs tasted like they bought them already boiled. Ham was similar to packaged deli ham from Walmart, plantains were extremely soggy, and there was ketchup smothered on the whole thing.
The empanadas were something to be desired for. Just bland. So bland and dry.
Tequenos we’re ehh. Nothing special.
The burger was weird. Quality of the burger meat was really poor. Again terrible quality ham. Potato sticks were canned potato chips from the store. Just...
Read moreSuper cute and fun! One of the only places that's really struck a chord with me in Tallahassee. Venezuelan street food is super yummy and a hit with any person's palate, so I knew I would like this. We also got their patacone and tumbarranchos, which were both huge, filling, and delicious. The setting/atmosphere is a shady area surrounded by two food trucks (this one, and a Mexican place). Even though it was sunny outside, there was plenty of fan ventilation. I got an agua fresca from the Mexican food truck (that had tacos! Need to visit there again) and the main meal at Dejavu. I'll definitely be...
Read moreI just love this place! Every time I eat here it's always such a pleasurable experience. Today we enjoyed their delicious food while sitting outside on a beautiful Tallahassee day.
We split a mandoca which is a sweet, fried cornmeal ring. Oh my goodness, it was delicious. Then we moved onto patacons. I had the pork version and my sister had the shredded beef. It’s a sandwich between slices of thin, fried, sweet or green plantains with all sorts of fixins in between. Wow. The first time I ordered this I had no idea what I was ordering. I hit the jackpot. I have to order this every time I come here. And the portion? Had to take half my patacon home to enjoy later.
The folks (owners?) are such nice people. This little food truck is...
