Chewy Boba Company — Restaurant in Tampa

Chewy Boba is the single best boba tea shop in the area. After my first visit I became a regular customer and have thoroughly enjoyed every trip since. Their menu is massive, not to mention the staff members are familiar with many tasty combinations not listed. They have excellent recommendations for newcomers and regulars alike. Most of these recommendations have quickly become my favorites. They have a very nice, open space for their dining area. The walls have been expertly painted, and the store is decorated with all kinds of pop-culture paraphernalia. The seating is also very generous for a boba shop. Where some similar locations barely have any to walk into, there's always space here to sit back and relax, even during their busiest times. Some even like to come here to study in their free time, but most are just here to hang out. The pricing is great. Some boba shops reach $10 for a single drink, but this one sits between $4-7 even with extra toppings. Not to mention they have a rewards program, and a discount for any students at USF. They have fast service times, a knowledgeable and passionate staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. This is the only place to be for boba. And no, this is not a bot or a paid advertisement. I am a regular here at Chewy Boba. I usually come at night and recently there has been a certain female employee who would take my orders for me and my family and somehow make it my fault that the order is bad. Of the three instances, tonight I asked a large Lavender milk tea with boba and Mango milk tea with boba and almond milk instead of regular milk. For the large Lavender, somehow I got a regular instead and when I asked for a correction, the lady goes “Oh? Was it?”. Again, this is the same person who took my order. Proceeds to change the drink to a large but when my family member tasted it, they tasted that the rest of the missing drink has been filled with what tasted like sink water instead of just putting more lavender milk tea. As for the Mango Almond Milk Tea, I ordered it like that because I have lactose intolerance. As I’m writing this review, I’m sh!ting bricks in my toilet, meaning they did not put almond milk, but instead regular milk. I have stopped becoming a regular due to the recent behavior of this employee and tonight has really been the last straw. Chewy consistently has the best quality boba in the USF area, but the avocado smoothies are really what stands out about this place to me. Chewy has the only avocado drink in the area that tastes predominantly like actual avocado. I also just got their Vietnamese coffee and it was DELICIOUS. Super strong, rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet. It was like a kick in the teeth in the best way possible. Their other drinks are also great. They're great with accommodating mixed flavor requests, and they have some of the most popular milk tea flavors on tap if your friend who's never had boba tea wants to try before they buy. The only downsides I have are that they don't have egg custard (the menu they show is from the Orlando location), the open sitting area gets really loud because of the way the space is designed, and AFAIK about half of the tables don't have accessible outlets.

TL;DR: Best quality boba around USF, wonderful service, great place to bring friends if they haven't had boba, try the avocado smoothies or Viet coffee, but isn't the best place to study...
