Walter's Press Box Sports Emporium — Restaurant in Tampa

So I know that places are busy due to Hurricane Irma, but I am EXTREMELY disappointed by this establishment. My husband, 3 kids under the age of 4, and myself decided to have dinner here as it is close to home. We arrived at 6:15 pm ordered our drinks and food for the children. The dinner rush had not started yet as there were still about 20 tables open. As soon as our drinks arrived we ordered our food, so 6:30ish. Kids food arrived, they managed to down the burnt tenders and I had to send back the fries because they tasted too burnt. (Mind you it just started getting busy). So fast forward to 7:30...Kids are screaming, we still have not gotten our food, despite everyone around us, who arrived after us, has received their food. The server has not come by our table once since the kids food arrived. I finally had to get up and go to where she was and ask what was going on. Apparently, "there was a mix up in the kitchen".

Why am I disappointed: Ok so there was a mix up. The server could have come 15 minutes prior to me getting up and explain what was going on. When the manager was informed he just repeated what the server said, did not offer a solution, and as he was walking to the table to explain what happened to my husband got distracted by another table and walked away. After all of this, the server still had not come to the table to apologize or show face. When I finally could not control my children I requested the check from the manager. I worked in the restaurant business for 15 years and whenever there was a huge mistake/"mix up" in the kitchen we have always comped meals. It took another 10 minutes to receive the check, he had comped my husband and I drinks. I was ready to cry because after all the stress of this past week, having a rough day at work today and having my children crying because they had been sitting there for over an hour they had no empathy or consideration for us.

Needless to say we had to leave with only the 2 kids eating as my 3rd is only 11 months and did not require a meal.

The Press Box has always been one of my go to places for sporting event grubs and to-go when I have not been able to cook, but after this experience my family and I will no longer be going to or ordering to-go from here.
