The Original Mama Maria's Greek Cuisine — Restaurant in Tarpon Springs

Well first impressions always bad when you walk up to the front door which is white and you see fingerprints and dirt from the hands that have been touching the door around the handle area shoulder height approximately and when you leaving you see the same thing on the inside of the door so don't you ask yourself what is the hygiene like elsewhere? When things like this are so noticeable to everyone but if you don't care then they're not noticeable!

It's for the food the only good thing I thought was the grilled octopus was very tender and good flavor the olive oil as usual most of those places in Tarpon springs use cheap olive oil and which doesn't have a good flavor so I have to go to Target and get there extra virgin olive oil which is superb their brand olive oil just so nobody's confused it's in a green plastic bottle with a green type of label and it's Portuguese olive oil which is one of the best for those who are not familiar with olive oil! so I always pack that when I go to Tarpon springs because I know I'm going to be disappointed with the LOL and sure enough I was right on in this place as well which is the first time I've been there! I wanted to get some vegetables with with the grouper I ordered for my daughter I wanted originally catch of the day which they didn't have which is a whole snapper grilled Char-Broil with lemon garlic and oregano which is out of this world usually if if they have it which they didn't which was disappointing! The grouper was like maybe ounce portion if that and the only thing I got rice pilaf their version they just put some tomato sauce over the top a little bit and then that's what they call it which is not what it is! They had no broccoli or anything like you could give as a as a complimentary side to the fish just some baked beans with tomato sauce I mean yeah they're they're probably good if they're not cooked them and season them properly but not everybody wants to eat that the old theme of you have to mix it up you can't always serve the same thing! That's why you go to especially restaurant to have an experience! I wanted to get some nice wine original of course they don't have it but they haven't just met a craft you know so I couldn't buy a bottle of Retsina for example, in general they were bad very mediocre winds of the wireless and I don't know why because Greece has some nice wines but you if you're ignorant and don't know about them you don't strive to have them on the menu which is unfortunate! I had no mothers as well there was too much rice in them The taste was good! So...

I apologized this is for Mama's not mama Maria's.....disregard review, I don't know how to deleted....My family and I went to this restaurant since were visiting from Colorado and my sister in law from Ohio...My parents brag how good the food is here....I'm so disappointed on the service we received ....The restaurant was not even packed..First we sat for 40 min with no acknowledgement my sister in law got up and got us menus..The waitress noticed. She quickly came and took our drink order another 15 min pass she brought us our drinks our first cup of water tasted like mop water (disgusting) thankfully we had bottle water with us....Then they brought us salads mmm we could not eat our salads right away because we didn't have utensils...We had to tell them we didn't have utensils she proceeded to bring us 1 fork per person with no napkins and no knife..The food took another 45 min to come out....My fish sandwich was nothing better Gorton's fish stick...You would think being by the water they would have fresh fish or some type of marinade for their fish...The waitress only refilled a couple of drinks after the girls asked for it meanwhile we all needed refills....We had to ask for refills she wouldn't check on us, everything we got we had to ask for.....The service was beyond terrible with empty tables...We were imposed a 18% gratuity which we did not want to pay and even with us complaining they charged us and didn't even apologized...To make matters worst when we went to pay by the register there was a waitress behind th counter spraying on perfume 3 times by the food counter now I know why the water tasted like mop water...We tried to complaint and instead of getting an apology what we got was excused to justify their bad service saying they were busy and this was their busiest season...Really how can it have been so busy when the whole right side of the restaurant was empty...My parents have decided not to come here anymore and to all my Colorado friends and Ohio beware....We will never visit this restaurant again..Management suck and so did they're...

Oh well, not eating here again. I've been to this place half a dozen times, and the food is always pretty good. Today, however, I called in a take out order, then walked around to the restaurant to pick it up. It wasn't ready when I got there, so I went ahead and paid and sat down right in front of the server's station so I would be close by when it was ready. A few minutes later the server who took my payment took a to-go order out of the window and sat it on another table, then left it. I assumed it wasn't mine and continued to wait.

And wait. And wait. After watching a couple actually come in, order, finish their meal and pay, I was getting irritated. Exactly 45 minutes after initially called in the order, I was about to get up and ask what happened to my food when another server (who actually greeted me when I initially arrived) FINALLY thought it was odd that I had been sitting there that long. Turns out that food that had been sitting on that other table cooling off for half an hour was mine, and none of the servers could be bothered to let me know that. Screw me, I had already paid, right?

I demanded and received a refund and left hungry. They took it all in stride, as if it happens all the time. No effort to keep me as a customer. So I won't be any more, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone...
